Did any other members of Airtran's rewards program get an email offer for their credit card?

I got an email yesterday. No annual fee the first year. Two round trip awards plus 2 business class upgrades if you spend $2K in the first 3 months.

I applied online and was approved immediately. I don't know how the awards will be affected by the merger with Southwest, but A+ awards can be converted to SWA RR Awards. I figure that even if I cancel the card after one year, I'll still have 2 free flights from it.

Be on the lookout for the email. My offer was specific to me and expires on 10/4.

Yes we got it but we all ready have the card. It honestly really surprises me this far into the Southwest merger takeover. I used to travel Airtran frequently and I noticed over a year ago they stopped offering the credit card in the aisles of the planes through the flight attendants and they took all of their tables/kiosks out of the Atlanta airport so I thought they were phasing out and now to get this is very surprising.

Just picked up this card as well. The rewards program is meh, but I can't argue with 2 free flights and 2 business class upgrades. We fly out of Milwaukee, and being that Frontier has basically abandoned the city, we're using AirTran more anyway. I was actually looking for this card about 2 months ago and am also amazed that it had returned with the merger and such.

If you fly enough the business class upgrades are a great reward I think. So miss Airtran...

Help me out...

I see that the BC upgrade vouchers expire 12 months from date of issue. It says "Please allow 6 to 8 weeks to receive your certificate from date of your first purchase." So is the "issue" date the date you receive it? Or is it "issued" on the date you make your first purchase?

What about the 32 bonus credits (free R/T flights)? It says "AirTran Airways will issue a roundtrip flight for every 16 A+ Rewards Credits accumulated during any consecutive 24-month period." Does this mean that the free flights will not expire for 2 years? I assume that the expiration is from when they post to your account, correct?

I'm trying to piece together a "budget" trip for Oct 2013 and Oct 2014. Free flights and upgrades would definitely help. I'm trying to figure out if this would be worth it for me to sign up for. We live in Grand Rapids but typically drive to Detroit because AT is usually cheaper. If the flight is free, that would save me the transportation cost too.

The "issue date" should be the day that they send them to you. Being that they are e-mailed, the issue date should be the date you recieve them, or at least with a day or so I would imagine. What I noticed on reading the fine print on the offer is that the upgrade vouchers appear to only be valid starting at midnight the day before travel. This would mean that the voucher would waive the typical $49 upgrade charge at that time, but you cannot reserve the upgrade months in advance as if you were using A+ points. Once I get mine, I'm going to try and use them in advance anyway just to be sure :)

AirTran A+ credits typically expire 1 year after date of issue (when they post to your account). AirTran.com states that "For A+ Visa cardholders and Elite members, A+ Rewards credits are valid for 24 months after the posting date." So as long as you keep the credit card open and up to date, you should be good for 24 months. It might be a good idea to call and ask just to be safe if you're planning on sitting on them for the full 2 years though.

Good luck on the "budget" trip, it can be fun to see how much you can save!
