AirTran $49.00 out of Philly, Jan/Feb.

Just had to post my good fortune! I was just browsing the airline websites checking fares for our upcoming trip the end of Jan. into the first week in Feb. and found $49.00 rates on AirTrans site today, Sat. Nov. 6th. I bought immediately. We are flying out of Philly. I didn't check to see if the low fares were going for any other cities but it may be worth a check. Hope this can help someone else get $49.00 fares.

My DW and I are planning a trip the week of Jan 23. This looks like a great deal but it also looks like you cannot choose your seats in advance for this price. I guess that means we could end up not sitting next to each other on the flights. Is that a possibility, do you know?

It's a possibility, but from what I've heard if you do online check-in the day before, you'll have a good choice of seats because most people buy the tickets you can't reserve seats ahead of time.

It's $49 for selected flights PIT/MCO too ($115 total w/tax).

If we do this and we use the on-line checkin feature the day before our departure, will we be able to pick seats then or do we still have to wait until we physically checkin at the airport to get our seat assignments? We would really prefer to be seated next to each other for the flights. I know SE Airlines is first come first serve seating and we once had to do a seat swap with another passenger so we could sit together. We could probably arrive in Philly around 12:30-1:00 for a 3:15 flight. If need be, we could take an evening flight and arrive even earlier. We really don't know anything about AirTran but the price is great and it's still available for our dates. Thanks.

AirTran wasn't available for my dates RT but the $49 was for my trip back so I booked United for the flight down ($89.10) and AT for the way back ($49.) for a total of $138.10. This is PHL to MCO

The cheapest I could find RT from PHL to MCO prior to this morning was $181 and that wasn't the best flight times so I'm pleased with what I did get. Remember to always check one way trip in addition to RT and you can get some great deals that way.

I am so bummed! I checked the Air Tran site last week and ended up booking with Spirit out of Atlantic City because we like that airport much better (rates were the same). I could have saved $300.00 if I waited another week! Congrats to all of you who got that super rate! Its all in the timing!

I just booked our flights out of Philly for Jan 22 and returning Jan 29. My DW and I will be flying R/T on AirTran for $233.40!!! The flights themselves, not including taxes, etc., were less than $46 O/W! Amazing! Thanks, MinnieGi, for the tip!

i HAD JUST BOUGHT MY US AIR TICKETS YESTERDAY AT $196 PER PERSON WITH TAX.

I saw this at 6am today and I called usair and cancelled with in the 24 hr grace period.
new ticket price $116 per person with tax
times 5 people a savings of $ 400

These fares are also good for December.....!!
Was holding out till Monday to purchase and usually don't ever even ckeck air tran...Figured the 196.00 UsAir was the best I was gonna get.
Now ....my family of four is flying Dec 12-16 for under $500.00!!!
So just to double check....
Because tickets are like 1/2 price....have the AP's ....have the DVC....looking into going again for a short trip in Feb!
