Hey, sorry if this has already been posted.

I Googled AirTran codes and found this

http://www.airtran.com/sunshine

If you're flying to FL (Orlando!) they'll send you a $25 voucher just for entering your e-mail address.

I got it about 1 minute after I put our e-mail in and went into our itinerary on AirTran and used the voucher to assign ourselves some seats--- from a reservation booked in May!:banana:

Nothing like free seat assignments... like the old days.

If you'd input the credit card afterwards, you would have gotten $19 refunded back to the card you made the reservation with too.

She used the voucher she just received to pay for the seat assignments. Technically, they wouldn't have been "free" if she could have used the $25 towards paying for her flights. But since she said she booked in May she would have already paid for the airline tickets and couldn't use the $25 towards the tickets. Might as well use it for seats assignments at that point!

My seat assignments came to $24.

I really don't care that I didn't get that $1 back. :confused3

I've been watching the flights to see how full they got to decide if I wanted to assign seats or not... with the kiddo, I decided to do it.

How was the seat $24? Each direction is $6. I bought a seat and got $19 back X the number of tickets. I surely would rather have just used it when I'd bought them and had $25 off the ticket, but same thing, tickets had been previously purchased.

I'm curious about the baggage fee thing too. I paid for my tickets and seat assignments months ago.

I totally forgot about the bag charges.
I am thinking of just using a HUGE duffle bag. LOL

Just make sure you stay under the 50 pound limit, or else it will cost you more than a 2nd bag would have!

We are also trying to fit everything in carry-ons and one checked bag this trip. :)

We fly SW last time (last month) and this one person had this large duffle...
It looked like army regulation....
He slipped it right above head.
I might try it this time...

4 seat assignments x $6 a seat = $24

Thanks so much for the tip...I too was able to use it for seat assignments on an already booked flight. I was worried about getting seats together...I didn't want our kids to have to sit without me or DH...no worries anymore :thumbsup2

I spoke to Airtran couple days ago... There is a $15 fee for first checked bag and $25 for the second with a 50lb limit per bag.... If you are on the "elite" rewards plan meaning you fly ALOT you aren't charged OR if you upgrade to first class then you aren't charged...

The fees are one way so for us family of 4 that is an extra $120 RT from Richmond, Va to Orlando GRRRRRR I may learn to pack alot in a carryon and save the fees hehehe rolling all my clothes worked for a weeks worth and we have a washer and dryer at BLT sooo this could work for our 11 day trip....

They told me I could have an extra carry-on for Lucas... so I'm going to try to pack all of Lucas' clothes, diapers, general supplies into one of the carryons and attempt to get all of my and DH's stuff into one suitcase.

Notice I say attempt.

I'm doing that, also, to try to save on the amount of luggage we're hauling around with the kiddo.

I called airtran and asked how would I be able to keep my family of 7 together. I told her how southwest lets families with small children board earlier. She stated that they would not separate a family with small kids, but that seems to make no sense because if someone pays for seat assignments they surely would not ask them to move.:confused3 I guess I would have to pay for the seat assignments just as a guarantee.

Southwest no longer does this. Some folks on our flight last week got a rude awakening when they were told the could board between groups A & B but not before group A.:surfweb:

Even when we didn't buy seats, my family has always been put together. We look at the 24 hour mark, and at that point everyone has a seat assignment. If you don't like it, you can move them all around- if the flight isn't full. The best coach seats are not the ones they sell in advance anyway.
