I've been checking out airfare for our trip and I'm having problems with the return airfare. Orange County and LAX are high. Is San Dieago, Ontario or Burbank options?? How far are they from Disneyland??? We would be flying Southwest.

The three closest airports are in this order:

SNA (Orange County)
Long Beach
LAX

I have heard of people drivng in from Ontario, but San Diego and Burbank are kind of far.

I have flown in to SNA and Long Beach. Both are great, smaller airports and very easy to navigate.

Have you tried AWA/U.S. Air? They often are quite competitive with SWA prices.

Don't forget to checkout Jetblue. They fly to Long Beach.

Ontario's airport is about a 25 minute drive from Disneyland (we just flew in and out of Ontario in October). If you find a good airfare deal for Ontario, TAKE IT! :thumbsup2

Long Beach is great. It is a small airport so check-in is fast & easy. It only takes 20 minutes or so to get to DL. I second the other poster who said to check JetBlue.

We are flying into Long Beach next week. I think we are planning on taking a taxi to the DLH. Is there a better way of transportation that we haven't found out about? Thanks!

Well I had to use Burbank in Sept. It's about an hour away. I mean it is not the closest by any means but I did it. Long story as to why. Traffic is will be bad so plan on it. I rented a car at the airport and drove in. Orange County is very close. LAX is a ZOO so I would avoit that.

but LAX tends to be cheaper than other airports...

i suggest using travelzoo.com

Jetblue has a $99 one way from Chicago.

Thanks everyone. I would be flying out of Long Island (MacArthur airport in Islip,NY) So I'm limited to airlines. Southwest ,American and US Air. Jetblue flies out of JFK which is a zoo.

I think a taxi is your best bet, that is what we are doing on Friday. You just get your bags and then cross the street and there is a whole line of taxis ready to go. They have a flat rate of $36 for Disneyland.

Just beware that you will not get that same flat rate going back to Long Beach Airport, and the drivers are not always good about telling you this up front (personal live and learn experience for me).

You might want to look into a shuttle for the way back.

Don't where you are flying to/from, or when, or what is high $$$ for you. Yesterday's DING! fares from ABQ to LAX were in the $70's. However we will be using a RR award for our February trip, and will be flying into SNA which is a little more $$$ than LAX. Sometimes we fly into LAX and out of SNA....all depends on the cost. Can't beat the DING!. :cool1:

I found jet blue to be pretty reasonable for flying out of Boston to Long Beach so that i sthe route i am going. Got my trip ticl from AAA and it is 15 miles to my hotel (GC) from the sirport, I didn't think that was to bad for the price I got, lower then other airlines. check it out :santa:

15 miles from Long Beach to DLR isn't too far, but don't forget that depending on when you'll be getting in & hitting the road, that 15 miles could take you 20-25 minutes, no traffic, or 40-50+ minutes during afternoon/evening rush hour.

Southwest doesn't fly to Long Beach & Twingle is limited to 3 airlines from Islip. Of the LUV airports, Orange County is usually more expensive than Ontario or LAX to fly into, but the closest. Ontario is probably a better option than LAX since it's smaller & not as busy. Burbank is the furthest from DL in the Orange County/L.A. area & as a PP noted, traffic can really be a bear from there, rush hour or not.

Since you'll be leaving on Good Friday, traffic should be a little bit lighter than usual barring any accidents; Thursday, a little heavier. I suspect that your return being Easter Weekend is what's causing the high price.

San Diego is probably about 90 miles away & if you were renting a car might not be a terrible option, but even though you'll be here almost 2 weeks, it'd still be better on arrival than departure (who wants to make leaving Mickey any worse than it needs to be).

I get into LB airport at 10am give or take a few mintues so I am assuming rush hr traffic is already gone.
When I got to DW it is about 35 minutes to get there to DW from MCO, I really dont mind because you know what is at the end of the rainbow. LOL :santa:

Perfect thought :thumbsup2 And you're right...traffic should move along just fine. Interesting that you mentioned the MCO drive to WDW because I never thought of it like that...a very similar drive, though. The drive to WDW is just a little nicer IMO.

Have a great trip! :yay:

I've flown into Long Beach three times and each time it has only taken about 30 minutes to get to the resort. Tell the cabie not to take the freeway. It's much faster going on the surface streets!

Thanks for the advise. I suspect your right and the reason for the high fare is Easter weekend. After the Christmas I'll just have to bite the bullet and book.
