Newark, Laguardia, and JFK are all closed, Logan, TF GReen and Bradley aren't officially (yet) but might as well be as no one is taking off or landing. I believe that National and BWI are closed as well.

They are saying the weather is going to get worse before it gets better.

This is going to mess up air travel for the next couple of days, so anyone who was planning on taking a flight, put your patience hat on and call ahead to verify that your flight hasn't been cancelled. Take a good book and a snack with you.

Good luck!

Anne

Lucky Anne to be down in beautiful Florida, rather than up here in nasty ole NE!!!! My dad is flying in tomorrow from Ft. Lauderdale to Logan...hope he makes it. I think Logan is going to be a zoo tonight and tomorrow!!!

My husband is at his NJ place--he's called a couple times, inbetween shoveling. He rides on the local rescue squad (working on getting his EMT certification), he's on duty all night on Saturday nights, says he got a good nights sleep in his bunk there last night--they didn't have a single call!! He expects that to change as people start to shovel out today, and then try to go to work tomorrow. :(

Anne.....remember to thank your dh from us!!! Must make it even tougher calling you in Florida and then having to head off to help out those nuts who think the conditions aren't all that bad!!!

Keep checking even if you do reschedule your flights. I did that and then that one was cancelled. Hopefully I will make it back to Florida tomorrow.

Pictures of Boston from my walk today. Brrrrr

Brrrr...... Stay safe and warm! Hey--if you're in Boston, want to bring me back some Chow-Dah from Legal? :teeth:

The United website is refusing to work right now (was working this morning) :badpc: . Several United flights from DCA to ORD earlier today were cancelled or (last time I could get in) seemed to be in limbo - not cancelled, haven't left, even though the flight time was an hour past or so.

Am on hold with United roght now. Anyone want to take bets on how long it will be before I actually get to talk to someone? (going on four minutes now, am sure it will be at least 10...)

My DH is supposed to fly into Chicago/O'Hare late this afternoon, but is not looking good right now.

PS - Am now up to 10 :surfweb: and also staring at PC while on eternal hold.

I hear you Agnes. We've been trying to check the United site as well. One family member is supposed to fly into ORD today and then on to MCO. Two others go into Pittsburgh tomorrow am. As crews and planes get out of position, who knows what will happen.

Anne, good for your DH.

Safetymom, good luck tomorrow. Hope your DH makes it in Agnes and the same for your father Diane.

All of you on the East coast, stay safe and warm. :grouphug:

I am right down the street from the Legal Seafood in Copley Place. The mall was deserted. I am not sure if Legal is even open. :(

Agnes, I should have remembered this. Check flychicago.com. I was able to check that the flights we're concerned about today are still scheduled to be on time. It does warn to check with your carrier but since United's site isn't working, this is sure less frustrating!

I bet I know what hotel you're staying at then ;) I've eaten at that Legal every time I've stayed at that hotel.

I'll eat there when i'm in NJ in a couple weeks :)

Have a safe trip home.

I am staying at Jurys. We had an event at the Back Bay convention center. We are going to try Legal or an Italian place tonight. Have eaten seafood the last two nights. :)

Cool! I was thinking across the street actually, but I've heard GREAT things about Jurys--it's very unique!

Nothing coming in or leaving Green today, my DS has been watching the website. Snow's pretty much stopped here by now.

BTW - thanks for NOT calling it "Providence airport"!!! ;)

Very little, if anything is leaving Logan in Boston either. I don't believe they officially "closed" but nothing is moving. I just heard on the news that 90% of all arriving and departing flights were cancelled. So it wasn't officially closed, just in essence closed. Delta cancelled all of Sunday's flights yesterday afternoon, rather than have equipment stranded in the snow. School's are already cancelling for tomorrow.
Take care everyone.

Why would I? It's in Warwick...

'cause everyone up here calls it the airport in Providence!!! It's really incredible. I have been asked why I say I'm going to TFGreen rather than Providence all the time!!! You would think the people here would know that, but they can't seem to figure it out.

To make it even more confusing, when landing they now announce "Welcome to Providence/Newport".....

Oh, man, you all will get a kick out of this!

Guess how long it took me before I finally got through to an actual person? Keep in mind that I hung up about three or four times, so I wasn't on the phone continually, it was broken up into chunks...

at LEAST 1 1/2 hours...ackackack.
Most of our trouble was that DH had to buy a ticket today, but the website was s...l...o...w.... or not working at all. I finally got through to someone, they pushed the ticket through and didn't charge us a reservation agent ticketing fee.

DH called a little after 9pm, Eastern time. Had no trouble at all getting to ORD/Chicago O'Hare (no trouble getting to the Reagan National or getting out of the neighborhood even)...
But school is CANCELLED tomorrow?...eh, don't get me started!

Thanks for the flychicago.com website. I'll try that next(ackackack) time. Btw, I even tried the Metro Washington Airports Authority's website, but it didn't really help.

agnes!
