Ok, OMG the search function here is just stalling out on me. So, I am so sure this has tons of threads out there... but I can't pull 'em up. :confused3

So, my family of 5 is actually driving down from AL. But my SIL called today wanting to know how she should get from the airport to the port. Uh, I dunno! How much is the transfer. I know MIL booked flights seperate from the cruises for those flying in (used miles etc). So, they need a ride, right?

And while dh is a good natured guy, I don't think he'd be up for 4 seperate runs back and forth from the port to the airport while I cooled my heels with the three kids.

So, what's the easiest not crazy expensive option. And how the heck would SIL (and other family members) add on their transfer if they chose to use DCL bus?

Thanks, and really I tried to search!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Who has the reservation numbers? In other words, your MIL or do you know them too? If you log in at the DCL site with the appropriate ressie # for the person(s) who needs the bus, I believe you can check their name off to "add transportation". Or maybe you can add it just by calling DCL?

I'm going to go check my ressie to see if I could add it if I wanted to...........

BRB!

So much for that :headache:

I couldn't find any area where I could add ground transportation to my reservation. Now, that could possibly be because they have no flight information for me (we're driving down) so airport-to-port transportation wouldn't make any sense unless I had given them flight information................

At this point, I'd suggest giving DCL a call. I'm positive it can be added, it's just that I thought it could be added online ...... but maybe not :)

First, relax. Secondly, you can add ground transportation by calling DCL (or having your TA do it if you used one.) You will need your reservation number and flight number (and times.) Transfers cost $70 round trip. You can also purchase one way. There's no question that using the transfers is the easiest way to go. That also includes baggage handling. IF they are returning on a "participating" airline, they can check bags at the port when they get off the ship.

Another way that might be significantly cheaper (but more hassle) is to rent a car. You drive the rental to the port, drop off passengers and bags, and have the driver return the car. All the car return places are very near the port and have a complimentary shuttle to return the driver to the port. The spouse can be checking in while the driver returns the car. We got a rental for $35 including taxes...so adding gas and tolls, still came out well ahead on our return trip. We has a late flight out and wanted to be able to do something with the day other than sit in the airport! In fact, we had booked a compact and ended up in a mini-van for the price of the compact!

:goodvibes

I'm relaxed... no worries! ;) I just thought I had read about people in trip reports using a car service vs using the DCL bus. When SIL called I was clueless... but I know she can get her mom to speak to travel agent etc and get it figured out.

SIL was figuring she needed to foot the bill for transfer and wanted an idea of cost. I looked for a while and couldn't find it... though I did finally find an article on another website eventually... but still clueless on exact cost.

Oh well. We have a while to work out those kinks! ;)

Thank you!
