Airport transfers vs. rental car???

We are staying 5 nights at the GF (suite, concierge). I read that airport transfers are $68 per person, which seems very expensive. We have a group of eight and one baby--should we rent a car or get the transfers? Are the transfers included with a suite? (It would seem they should be considering the price!)

Do we need a car if we plan on staying at GF? What about a one-day trip to Sea World?

Any suggestions would be welcomed, thank you!!!

I almost always get a car, you have so much more freedom with it. I think the Mears shuttle is around $30 per person each way and they stop at different resorts. You could go with a town car service, that would probably be the cheapest option and you get picked up at baggage claim and taken directly to your hotel. They also offer a stop at a store so you can pick up food/drinks if you want.

With the amount of people that you have going - I would say to get the car. Transfers are great if you only have like 2 or 3 b/c a car would cost you more. With $68 a person you could get a decent car and have the freedom to drive to sea world or Pleaure Island or where ever. For the most part though - the car will sit in the parking lot (Disney transportation is great and you will be more likely to use that) Transfers - for me have never been included but I do believe that if you book through disney online there is an option that you might have checked off for it- but you are still paying extra.

The cheapest and most convenient option would be to use a town car service. They will send a van that will hold your party. You can request a car seat also for your baby. Staying at the GF I doubt you would use the car at all. Also with your size of group you would need two vehicles. To go to Seaworld you would have three options if you use a town car service. 1st use the same service to transport your group to and from SW. You can make these reservations at the same time as you make the airport transfers. This would be the easiest and most convenient. 2nd you could take taxi's to and from SW. 3rd you can go to the TTC and catch the city bus called LYNX. It goes to SW. For convenience it is so nice to use a service. They help at the airport you get a grocery stop. Check out the transportation board for hints on which company to use. We have used Tiffany Town Car and Murray Hill Transportation. Both provided great service. They also don't charge per person. The charge is simply dependent upon the size of vehicle you need. If you use Mears you pay per person and stop at many other hotels on your way.

I second the use of a towncar service. You don't have to navigate roads that are unfamiliar. They show up at baggage claim to pick you up. It's about $120 round trip for a van with FL Tours. They can also arrange transportation to Sea World for a day.
