Airport transfers from port.

Hi. I am finding conflicting information regarding which airlines participate in airline check in on the ships. Has anyone flying Southwest participated in airline check in and baggage check on the ship, provided you have purchased the port to airport transfer- which we have? Thanks!

SouthWest is NOT a participant in the Onboard Airline Checkin program. They did do a test last February to see if it would work, so there are a few people who have been able to do the OAC flying SouthWest. But it didn't pan out and SouthWest did not continue in the program.

Here's the most recent information I have:

From Port Canaveral: (from cruise documents 8/9/2014)
The requirements are below

1. • You must have purchased DCL Air and/or DCL Ground Transfers
   • Your flight has to leave from Orlando International Airport after 11:30 am on the same day your cruise vacation ends.
   • Your flight must be on a participating airline:

AirTran Airways (no longer in business)
Alaska Airlines
American Airlines
Delta Air Lines
JetBlue Airways
United Airlines
US Airways

· Your final destination must be within the U.S. (including Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands)
· Each luggage piece can weigh no more than fifty (50) pounds.
· Airline specific baggage fees may apply and can vary by airline. Please check with your specific carrier for more details.
· Applicable airline baggage fees will be posted directly to your shipboard account.
· Some Guests may be selected to check in at the airport and may not be able to use this service.

I have seen that, but I have also seen something- and now I can't find it, that said that it was. That is why I was asking if anyone had actually done it. I figured if they had actually used onboard check in, they would know. And the above information is out dated, because American and US have merged- I can't remember which, but one doesn't exist anymore.

As I said, there was a one month period that DCL and SouthWest tested their participation in the program. It didn't pan out, but there will be people who have done it with SouthWest as their airline. So, it's likely that someone could post "Yes, we did fly SouthWest and participated in the OAC program".

Then, I would ask them if they did it recently We have close to a year before we go, however, it is almost time to book our flights. I was considering using a different airline on my way home- if it was priced reasonably and meant I didn't have to drag luggage.

I believe the list PP posted is current. American and USAir have merged, and will all be under the American Airlines name. I believe that is VERY recent -- as in within the past week that flights no longer show under the USAirways name; I flew just over a week ago and my flights were officially USAir. I would think it's highly possible that people still have valid flight info with the USAir name on it.

Southwest does not participate in DCL's Onboard Airline Check-in program. As PP mentioned, there was a trial period which was very popular, but at the end of the trial I believe it was Southwest who opted not to continue. Of course, things could change if your cruise isn't for another year, but as of this point in time I would opt for a different airline if you really want the benefit of OAC.
