Airport To Kissimmee By Car

i have asked this before but got no answers,has anyone got any views on the best way to kissimmee from mco airport,is boggy creek road good or should i use the toll roads.not sure when it gets dark in orlando at this time of year and the missus might have to drive if i get the bug my family have all got all views welcome cheers

The Toll Roads are definately the best route. For Kissimmee take the South Exit signs from the airport.

We however normally take the Northern exit and go down the B-line to the I4.

Either way it dead easy - it's only a couple of tolls at a dollar or less each.

When you look at your route take a gander at maps.local.com to get a "Captain" Birds Eye view of you route that you can rotate in accordance to your direction, gives you a brilliant appreciation of how things will look. Take your time with it and look for a tutorial, worth the effort 100%

Totally agree, B-line to Kissimmee is dead easy. Don't be worried about using the toll roads - it's not that much, and means it's quieter while you're getting used to driving on the wrong side of the road in the first hours after you arrive.

Definitely go down the 417, IMHO the easiest route to take, and once on the 417 it is nice and quiet.

You're staying near Medieval Times, right? You have several options, but the Beeline Expressway isn't one of them - that'll take you to the I-4 and then in the wrong direction entirely (although you could get off at the 535 Apopka Vineland Road, but you'd be contending with far busier roads than is necessary and going out of your way).

Actually, I wouldn't take the 417 either, although that is an option (and it's the best route for anyone staying anywhere west of Old Town).

As you leave the airport, you need to follow the signs for the 417 Central Florida Greeneway. It's very well signposted. You'll travel along the South Access Road for 2-3 miles before hitting the Greeneway. Rather than take that, I would be temtpted to carry on for another couple of miles until you hit the Boggy Creek Road, making sure you take it west, and then pick up the Osceola Parkway (again travelling west). OP is a free-flowing toll road. Exit at the John Young Parkway and head south (JYP actually becomes Bermuda Avenue at that point, but the exit should still be marked JYP). Once you hit the 192, you'll need to travel west for 2-3 miles. Wal-Mart and Medieval Times are between markers 15 and 14.

If you do decide to take the Greeneway, be careful not to miss the exit. It's a right-hand ramp (remember you'll be driving on the right, so stay in the right lane). If you pass under a road bridge, you've missed the exit (the road above you will be the 417!). Again, exit at John Young Parkway and head south, which will take you onto Bermuda Avenue.

I hope I haven't confused you - from what you say you've obviously got a map, so, if you look at it, what I've said should make some sense.

Deb's advice is spot on. Boggy Creek Rd to OP is an easy and quiet route to take to get to that section of 192 (as long as you get that right turn to stay on Boggy Creek Rd west), and you even avoid the only toll along OP (which is just west of the John Young Parkway junction). The junction of JYP and OP is also marked by the big The Loop shopping/dining complex, so that is a handy marker at which to turn left (there is a big Ashley's Furniture store on the right just before the junction and a Sam's Club on the left).

One other thing to look out for, the Beeline Expressway is now officially ther Beachline Expressway, although many locals still call it the Beeline!

Deb, since you obviously know your way about, maybe you could recommend me the best route to my hotel on Palm Parkway Or anyone else that knows the Palm Parkway area!

I have 2 routes im thinking about;

1. Take the North exit from the airport onto the Beachline, then come off at Sand Lake Rd (482) and continue West until Turkey Lake Road, then head South (from Google Earth it looks like the central reservation on Palm Parkway is open at hotel entrances, etc, so I think I could do a left into the Comfort Inn car park rather than going down to the junction with the 535 and doing a U-Turn there).

2. Head North out of the airport, take the Beachline West until I come to the I4, join the I4 and then exit at the 535. Up the 535 then a right onto Palm Parkway.

Hmm, Sand Lake Road isn't a bad road,but it's much more stop/start with intersections than the Beachline (thanks for that info, Simon ), so your second option would undoubtedly be quicker. The alternative would be to exit at International Drive and take that south to the Central Florida Parkway. Then head west on that until you hit Palm Parkway and travel south to your destintation. Turkey Lake is a great road for avoiding some of the congestion on the I-4 in certain circumstances, but I'm not convinced this is one of them.

In actual fact, Simon V would be much better placed to help you out as I believe he lives very close to your hotel. (Hope that's not classified information).

There's a Goodings at the Crossroads shopping center at Lake Buena Vista (directly opposite the entrance to WDW at Hotel Plaza Blvd). I think there may be a Winn Dixie on Apopka Vineland Road, quite close to the Comfort Inn, and a Publix somewhere in the vicinity of the road between Orlando Premium Outlets and I-Drive, but my mind could be playing tricks with me.

Hi there Paul. You are definitely better off taking option 2 that you mention here. The first option would definitely slow you down more unless you hit MAJOR traffic on the short stretch of I-4 you need to take. Simply come off I-4 at Exit 68 for Downtown Disney and LBV, stay in the right lane, turn right onto Vineland Rd (535) and continue straight across the first set of lights (for the Crossroads Plaza) and then turn right into Palm Parkway. Nearly all the hotels in PP are within a very short distance of this junction. Deb is also spot on with her observations about the supermarkets (Winn-Dixie is also a little cheaper). We often also visit the Orlando Ale House on this junction as it is effectively our 'local!'

Please note: this junction, where the 535 meets Palm Parkway and turns left, while Vineland Rd joins Apopka and goes north (you actually have to turn left to stay on the 535!), is truly awful for traffic for much of the day and you need to keep your wits about you. It is an 8-lane road in places ( ) and we see all sorts of crazy antics from drivers here, pulling U-turns and mis-reading the lights, so just be a little wary of other drivers here!

Excellent, thanks for the info Simon, especially the tips re that junction. Ive traced my route using Google Earth and it does seem pretty straightforward.

My original thinking to go via Turkey Lake Rd was so I could pick up tickets im ordering from DW Tickets, however I see they do delivery to your hotel, so I think I will take them up on that option and go for the 'easier' drive to my hotel
