Any tips for keeping 2 1/2 year old DS happy/occupied and quiet at airport & on plane (especially on the plane). Flight approx 90mins. He tends to throw small toys away - just loves me, DH & his DS(9) having to search for them - not easy under a plane seat! :furious:

Any tips appreciated :)

Colouring things. We've bought small aquadraw sets for DD(3) for our next flight which use water to do the drawing. You can get Winnie the Pooh ones.(about £5 from Boots/Amazon)

We also usually take a snack like a dairylea lunchkit which they can make up different combinations of and eat or feed to you :goodvibes

Another tip is to exhaust them completely at the airport whilst one person stays in the check in queue so they sleep on the flight.

Our DD was a star on the way there last year and a horror on the way home .

My DDs are usually quieter when they're snacking!! Not particularly healthy advice, but I would suggest taking lots of snacks with you!!!

Take a lollipop, this is for the taking off, so the baby will not suffer pain in the ears. Or a pacifier, if still uses it.

We take snacks also and especially a sweet to suck on for take-off.
I made a Disney colouring in books from the Disney website which kept the excitement as well as amused at airport and plane.

Our daugther had first flight when she was 1 1/2. She loved to put stickers on an album. Last time (2 1/2) we took some more and was again a brilliant idea! First flight she didn't notice anything, but last flight she loved to look through the window. We tried to keep her seated but sometimes we let her to jump a little bit on the seat or to walk along the corridor to explore the plane (children are very curious!) Staff is usualy very friendly with kids and understand that. You can walk a little bit with them when all is quiet (no food or shop carts, etc...)
Anyway, in both flights our portable dvd player was a must!
