We are flying into Orlando on AllegiantAir and Disney told us they won't pick us up from this airline. Has anyone had similar results and can I lie and say I came a different airline because on the website it doesn't specify an airline and we bought the package with this ideally in mind.

Are you coming into MCO or the other airport? They will only do magical express from MCO.

Allegiant flys into stanford airport. The cheapest way to get to disney is to rent a car and drive. The car services are over $100 each way.

The problem isn't the airline, it's the airport. Magical Express only picks up and drops off at Orlando International Airport (MCO). You're flying into Orlando Sanford International Airport (SFB), which is about 35 miles northeast of MCO. About an hour from WDW.

I agree with the PP, renting a car would be your best option.

Wow I feel really stupid. I wasn't even aware Orlando had two different airports. If we rent a car is the idea to keep it the whole week or can you return to somewhere near disney?

Don't feel stupid....many people make this error!! You're not the first, nor will you be the last.
As far as the car goes....it depends on what you need and what the cost is. I've rented a car in Sanford before, and kept it for the duration. But....that's because I was going elsewhere after my WDW stay. A lot of people rent and then the car just sits at the resort, until it's time to head back to the airport. Others rent one way....return it to the rental company once they get to the resort. But...the issue is which rental company to use. Alamo/National have two on-site offices. One is at the Dolphin Resort, by Epcot/DHS. The other is the Car Care Center, close to the MK. The CCC will give you a ride back to your resort, but you have to let then know ahead of time. They will also come pick you up if you want to rent to get back to the airport. At the Dolphin, you drop the car off and then get yourself to wherever it is you want to be.
There are other rental companies in the DTD area. Some have shuttles, some don't.

How about ditching your airline and rebook with one that lands at MCO? Or take a cab to MCO and have DME set up.

Allegiant Air does not refund money except in the case of emergency. That would be a big hit $$$ wise.

Your best bet is to rent a car to keep during your entire trip and drop it off at the airport on your departure day. You can run the numbers, but renting for your whole trip may be the same price or comparable to renting/dropping off twice (arrival day, departure day), in which case having a car to use the entire trip would be better. :) It would also allow you to do some dining offsite which could save you a little money as well!

On my sister's first/only trip to Disney, they flew on Allegiant (had to; they were flying for free). Allegiant offered a shuttle service that took them to/from Sanford that was around $250 RT for 4 people, so keep that in mind when you compare rental car prices.

That price seems kind of high. $31.50 for each person each way?

I think technically it was $64.95/RT. They got the flight for free (at the time, my sister was working for an Allegiant vendor and somehow her company worked out a deal with Allegiant that resulted in employees getting four free RT tickets to anywhere Allegiant flew for certain service anniversaries) so they didn't mind paying that much for the shuttle. Personally, I would have rented a car, but, well...my sister isn't me. ;)
