hey guys, my girlfriend and I are leaving in 3 days to goto the World, and we are having to leave a 2003 Ford Mustang at a parking facility at an airport(St. Louis, Missouri to be exact). My question is how safe are you leaving your car at an airport parking place for 7 days????

Hmm. Can you tell me which lot you'll be parking that in? :rotfl2:

But to be more serious . . . in my case, I checked into the cost of leaving our car at the airport during our vacation versus paying for a limo both ways, and it turned out we'd save money by getting a limo.

You might want to check into the costs in your area to see which makes more sense for you.

I routinely leave my car in the extended parking lot at O'Hare airport when I travel on business. At O'Hare, the security in the remote parking lots is extensive. Lots of security cameras, patrol cars, etc. They even offer battery jumps and "lost car' assistance if you can't remember where you parked when you return.

Another option you might have in St. Louis is parking at a rental car facility. There are several "second tier" rental companies that provide long term parking in Chicago. You drop your car at their off-site facility and they take you to the terminal in their shuttle. When you get back, they pick you up and take you back to their facility to pick up your car. The only downside is you do need to leave your keys with the rental company, But, I've never had a problem with that. As a matter of fact, one time, when my car was parked with a rental company for over ten days, they washed my car for me.

Hope this helps and have a great trip!

We have left our car at Newark Airport (NJ) many a time and have not had a problem. We found for our family of four, that parking at the airport in long term parking s the cheapest option when the vacation is a week or less. Limo, Train, airport shuttle bus are all more.

The safety of the lots probably depends a lot on which airport that you go to. Also, I agree with one of the other posters in that make sure you check the cost of the parking lot versus a limo. But anyways, back to your question, I park my SUV at the Manchester, NH airport all the time in long term parking without having any problems. I have parked it there many times for 1-2 weeks.

Now, when I am flying out of Logan in Boston, I always take a limo because:
1) Parking is expensive.
2) Even though it has gotten better, getting to Logan can be a pain.

Have a great trip!

Thanks for the information guys!!!! I think I am going to leave the car in a parking place there, this is my 250th post I'm halfway to 500 woohoo!!!! LOL :Pinkbounc

I leave my car in our airport parking lots all of the time. If I'm just going for a day or two, I'll often use the on-site parking, but it is a little bit more and more inconvenient (you have to do a lot of walking at our airport from the long term/overnight on-site garage). I pay $2 less per day to use Park & Fly located across the street (off-site), and they have a shuttle that takes me door to door. The security is also much better at Park & Fly. I've used ours at least 25 times and never had an issue.

We also leave from Newark and we park here:

24 hour security , it's well lit and free shuttle service to and from the airport. On the return trip, the shuttle arrives 5 minutes after you call the 800# from the airport. I don't know if Avistar parking is less or more expensive than the long term parking at Newark. We always feel safe leaving our cars here and never had a problem at all.
