Airport in your hometown, convenient?

I couldn't agree more.

Seriously. Why the heck did Sacramento need a dang train? Just to say they had one. Let's go to the airport and ride The Toonerville Trolley. Oh boy. And it used to be so easy. The main road used to go by both terminals and out you went. Now they have a maze to go through. Who is the idiot that designed that nonsense? A one billion dollar boondoggle.

Oakland is a big enough airport, but I wish there were more variety.
For whatever reason, many airlines have abandoned OAK. United and American used to be big in Oakland. USAir was big after they bought PSA, but I think they sold those routes to Southwest.

Still - there's a lot of low-cost carriers there now like JetBlue and Spirit. And it's the Bay Area hub for Southwest.

I live to the east of the city and the airport is to the west, so it takes 45 minutes to 1.5 hours, depending on the time of day. Our wonderful state government has just spent $670 million to cancel the plans for a road that would have shortened that trip drastically. >:(

We fly out of Detroit for most trips, it's a 2-hour drive. We usually drive down the late afternoon before, spend the night at the Fairfield Inn in Romulus (park and fly right next door) then take the shuttle to the airport the next morning.

Lansing has a nice smaller airport, about a 45-minute drive from us. DH flew out of their once for his job and I drove him there, easy to get to and navigate once you're there too.

We flew out of Grand Rapids once, it's about an hour and a half away.

O'Hare and Midway are both close but traffic makes either at least a 40 minute ride. We prefer Midway

We have a small airport in our neighborhood but that is only used by private pilots and the occasional small corp jet or news helicopters.

The road that BWI airport is on technically turns into my large subdivision at the end. It's awesome, and we are very spoiled. We have flown out of Dulles to Disney before and it seemed like such an inconvenience, when it's only a little more than an hour away. Reagan is easy to get in and out of, and closer than Dulles, but I've never seen the best deals out of that airport for where we are going.

We live 30-35 minutes from Hartsfield-Jackson here in Atlanta. It is more like 10 minutes from my office. Very convenient.

When we first moved here 10 years ago, I was very against the ATL airport and Delta as service was horrific and tickets were expensive. While I feel tickets are still somewhat expensive (especially on international routes) due to lack of competition, in my opinion, Delta has upped their game and service in excellent. Once you get used to it, the airport is easy-in/easy-out for airport parking and you can fly basically anywhere non-stop. This is especially helpful for my husband who is on the road 40 weeks a year.
