Airport hotel ?

HI, I also am NEW to Hotwire. I needed 1 nite April 12th (we just decided on a last minute trip to WDW) so I read thru Betterbidding.com and picked the 3.5 * in the MCO area for $74. and I got the HYATT!! (but I never saw the TENNIS in amenities) I was very surprised that I did get the Hyatt. After reading everything thru I thought for sure we would end up with a shuttle hotel. And I would have been fine with that. It may also have helped that we are less than a week away from our stay. Joan

May I ask how many people you were booking for ? I can only get a 3.5 star when I put in "2 adults". Once I add the "2 children", my 3.5 star option disappears.
Thanks for sharing your info Joan and congrats.

Joan,
Could you please post the exact list of amenities? I believe if you go back to hotwire and click on my account it will still list it. If "tennis" no longer separates it from others, I'd love to figure out what does!!
TIA!!

Hi, I booked for 2 adults and 1 child. But remember different dates will change what is available. Joan

HI, Amenities incude Airport Shuttle, fitness center, pool(s),restaurant(s),High speed internet access, and business center. I still DO NOT SEE tennis?? And before I booked it stated the HOTEL was 2.1 miles from the airport. So I REALLY did not think it was the HYATT. But a shuttle hotel would have been fine because we plan on renting a car the next morning and my DH would have gone back to the airport and then picked up myself, DS and our luggage.I was "unsure":scared1: before I booked but we really needed something for that 1 nite and the price was good,so I just closed my eyes and hit the FINAL button!! Joan

Joan.....you did good ! I wish I could get so lucky ! My date shows nothing for Hyatt for a family of four. Only comes up when I put in 2 adults.
Thanks for checking back with the details !

Hi MIASRN262

In March I was what the airline calls a distressed passenger. Not my words but there's. anyhow they couldn't get me connected to my flight in Atlanta to Toronto so they put me up for the night in a Hotel,,,shuttle service from MCO about 10 min
drive (Holiday Inn) --I must say the staff were wonderful and thee Hotel it's self quite nice,,big room lovely restaurant .
I would definately consider staying there again when flying in late or to save points on an over night weekend stay at DVC.
I wish I could find their number but, misplaced it. I know they were the closest Holiday Inn to the airport. BTW I met alot of airline staff who also stay there.
The shuttle service back to the airport every 1/2 and every hour .
hope this might help
Mel

Hi...I'm back....
I've been checking every day....multiple times a day......
The 3.5 star hotels are only showing up on hotwire when I put in "2 adults". Once I add my two dd's, I can only get a 3 star ("midscale establishment") show up and then 1 and 2 stars. I'm assuming the "midscale establishment" is the Crown PLaza as Giggle suggested ?

Here's my question :
Do u think I'd be ok, bidding on the 3.5 star for 2 adults and just bring a disposable air mattress ? I really want the Hyatt or Rennaisance. What do u all think ? Of course, I'll request 2 beds but if I don't get it, I'll have the air mattress. Since we're getting in so late, just would really like to be close (Hyatt is my preference). I'm itching to bid on it.....it's coming up at $59 which is great for either Hyatt or Rennaisance. Anyone know the size of the rooms at these hotels ? I'm assuming they can accomodate an double size air mattress if needed ?
Thanks.

Edited : now that I'm reading the betterbidding forum, I don't see "tennis" listed as an amenity, so I think this 3.5 may not be the Hyatt.

The Hyatt does offer rollaways as a reservation request. Also, the king bed rooms appear to have a couch in them which my youngest would be happy to sleep on for the night.....can u tell I really want to go for this one ? ;)

Well...won't bug you all anymore. ;)

I went ahead and bid. I got the Rennaisance for $59 ($73 with tax) for July 27.
Booking through the hotel directly, the absolute cheapest I could have gotten was $137 with tax. So I saved $64....I'm happy. Would have liked the Hyatt more, but it wasn't offered for my dates.
Thanks to all......

PS: I figure I can call the resort and request two beds ? Any suggestions on whether I should do that now vs in July (closer to our arrival) ?

Maria,

I think you did great going ahead and booking the room. Call now and ask for two beds and tell them there will be two children in the room. Call again the week of (or day of) to confirm. This is exactly the reason my DH and I love Hotwire and priceline so much. It is perfect for these quick or last minute stays. You got a great savings on a nice place to lay your head before you wake up ready to hit the parks!

We are going in Sept and our flight to MCO leaves at 8:30 AM. We are almost an hour north of the Atlanta airport in good traffic. We've already decided to get a hotel near the ATL airport the night before we leave. It provides peace of mind in not having to deal with the traffic the morning of. Last time we did this we were going to Mexico for the week. Our hotel (Crowne Plaza) through Priceline was $40 then we pd the hotel $25 to leave our car there for the week. That still was cheaper than paying for value parking at the airport all week. :)

So happy for you, let us know how it turned out after your stay!

I just booked the Hyatt direct, because we really want that particular hotel. I wish I could be guaranteed to choose the right one on Hotwire, but I can't take the chance! Staying at the Hyatt the night before our flight home will allow us an extra hour of sleep - the difference between getting up at 3 a.m. and 4 a.m.!! At that time of day - very important! I did cringe at the price though!

I hear you!!:)

Those 6 and 7am flight times are awful..but they're the only ones that will keep a trip to WDW limited to one full travel day.

And last trip, we looked longingly at those Hyatt balconies as we made our way through security all bleary-eyed!!

$200 would *not* have been too much for us to pay that morning! LOL!

:sunny:

Thanks so much for all your help Giggle. I will definitely report back how the hotel was---and I'll request 2 beds but be prepared for a king bed. It's only one night. By staying here too, we're saving on an extra night of a rental car ($34). If we stayed further from the airport....closer to wdw or whatever, we'd have to pay for the extra night of rental.

U2Rocks.....in your situation, I can TOTALLY understand coughing up the $200 to stay there. Those early flights are killer. I had a 6 am flight in Feb. We were staying at POP and I had to get up and get the kids up at 3 am. It was eerie driving to the airport from POP at 4 am. The Hyatt really does look like an awesome hotel too.
Maybe one day I'll stay there.........
