I realize this is a bit off the beaten path but I thought maybe I'd find some info. here since so many Disney travelers have children.

Has anyone ever flown with a child who has asthma?

My cousin's family will be travelling with us at Thanksgiving down to Disney and their 7 year old daughter who has asthma, has never been on an airplane. I think they're a bit nervous with the recycled air quality, etc.

Can anyone relate to this and has it ever been a concern or a problem for you?

Thanks,

Deb

DS has asthma that is triggered by winter air, and upper respitory infections (colds bronchitis, etc). He has now flown 4 times in the winter months, and it's never been an issue. I do always have his inhaler in my carry on, but have not ever had to use it.

Thanks Deb...I'll pass that along to them!

I'm sure they'll be checking everything out with their doctors but thought if I heard from a fellow traveler who has already been through it, it might put their mind a bit more at ease.

Happy travelling :flower:

I've flown many times with my DS who had asthma bad as a child, starting at age 6. We even gave him his nebulizer treatment in the airport before we boarded and brought the machine on board with us. He never had any problems on the plane - alot of his problems came from respiratory problems and exercise. Just be sure they have medication(inhalor)with them, just in case.

My boys did fine and my neice, who has really bad asthma did fine too. Just do as Snoozan said, besure you have the inhaler with you. You could always call the dr. and see if there is anything else for your case. :goodvibes

I have asthma, it's aggravated by cold ry air as well as hot humid air.

I fly quite a bit (eight r/t's this year so far) and have never had a problem.

Ds has asthma has never had a problem flying. We also, always bring an inhaler. When he was younger we always brought the nebulizer.
One of his triggers is any drastic change in climate, so, he has always had a problem when we get to FLA after flying out of cool NE autumn air.
