I think the airline restrictions on liquids/gels is pretty clear, but what about carrying on any foods (through security)? Can we still bring snacks in carry ons? I hope to bring non-liquid/gel snacks for the kids: candies, granola bars, etc. Will this be permitted through security? Or should I just skip it? There isn't much to buy AFTER security in our small airport, and we have 8 hrs of flying. Thoughts?

Thank you. I know you get these questions all the time. I just saw the link upthread for all foods, etc. I had never found that page before. Thanks!

Remember that separate condiments are not allowed past security. If you want PB&J, you need to put both the PB and the J on the bread before you approach security. No carrying a little packet of jelly to add later. Same goes for ketchup, mustard, mayo, relish, salad dressing packets, etc.

We had no problems bringing on food 2 weeks ago.........large family size bags of chips, cookies, candies and more.

Hmm. This makes me wonder if they'll allow me to carry on DS's lunchable container. He wants the one with pizza (it has a sauce packet in it). It will be sealed, but I don't think that matters. I know this is a long shot, but anyone have any experience with lunchables? We normally don't bring that much in the way of food, but we won't stop traveling from 6 am to 5 pm, and the kids prefer lunchables to the airplane box lunches.

Any thoughts on Fruit Snacks? I read the TSA site and was wondering if those are considered gels. They are softer. We don't get the ones that have the liquid centers.

.

We had a TSA agent who had a problem with our son's yogurt. It was OK with a supervisor but the supervisor also knew our son was diabetic by the time she was answering the TSA agent. I was relieved as that was part of his carb count in his breakfast.
