Hi All,

I've just come into the whole realization of airmiles at Safeway- I'd really love to be able to save enough miles for 3 hoppers in October- I currently have 5123 miles, so need 4027 more- I just did my first shop at safeway last week and got 313 miles! I had no idea you could get so many there! (I know I know) now I'm motivated to try and get the last 4027 in the next few months, at 300ish a week I can make it- would love to hear tips on how to max the miles at safeway!

First Tuesday of the month is 20X the Air Miles. There are bonus offers (such as spend $75 get $75) about every other week. If you sign up for Safeway emails they will send you even better offers (last one I got was get 200 if you spend $120) that you print out and take in or show on your smartphone. They sometimes have bonus AM on gift cards, I stock up on those for gifts.

Rexall, Rona and Shell also have great offers too. Watch flyers for bonus offers and stock up!

We just moved to BC from Ontario and wow!!! In ON it used to take me a year to get 1000, now I can rack them up much faster!

We just got 5 round trip tickets (to Philadelphia for a medical need) with 100,000 AA miles. All five only cost $55 in taxes. It was the biggest win ever.

this is why we dont follow AM that close, Ontario has next to nothing. Now that Sobeys is on board maybe, but they are so expensive.

That is what we thought until we became as our son calls us "Airmile Whores" :rolleyes1 In a little less than 6 months we have earned around 6200 with not much effort!!! Didn't involve buying anything we don't normally buy, we just became "smarter" at how we shop. I spend forever checking flyers to see who has bonus sales (Rexall/Pharmaplus is great) receive "targeted" coupons from Metro, both our MasterCard & AMEX are affiliated with AM so we double-dip whenever possible. I ALWAYS check with Airmiles.ca before i shop on-line since if you "sling-shot" through them you can earn from many places that don't take the card in the brick & mortar shops. If we're going to book a hotel I will do it through this site! Not only will you get points but sometimes you will even snag a special rate!

I've found recently it's been easier to collect points in Ontario. Shell and Metro have has a lot of bonus coupons recently. I'm getting 300-400 per month now. I've also found places that give you 5-10 for getting quotes or answering surveys. The only problems I have is sometimes I get e-mailed coupons and they expire too fast, not sure why I'm not getting them earlier. I also put everything I can on my credit card so I get the extra points.

WOW- I am just about to do an online purchase and read this first! I always forget to do this but now I will THANKS SO MUCH!

I always make use of the Safeway spend $xxx get xxx air miles coupons, and then try to stock up on non perishables within that amount, particularly the ones that carry even more bonus miles. So, paper towels and TP where you buy two and get a bonus 30 AM, or cleaning supplies, or juice boxes for back to school....anything that will keep and that I would buy normally. My best shop ever at Safeway was during their extreme AM deal awhile back where I spent $110 and got almost 600 AM. I was able to get four 3-day park hopper passes to DL just before they raised the amount of AM needed, so we're all set for our trip in 3 weeks. I'm now working on enough for DH and I to get away together in a year or so, for a weekend of adult time. I watch the flyers like a hawk and stock up when the miles/deals are the best.

It was pretty amazing...until the cashier told me about the lady who spent about $150 and got almost 1000 AM.. WHAT!?? LOL

There is also i coupon i got from Airmiles to print .. if i shop at Rexall from Monday - Thursday and spend over $50.00 i get 80 Airmiles.

In the GTA area if you buy a $150GC get 200 points, and had an email offer for $200 GC get 80 points. So bought a $200GC and got 280 points. Then used the GC to buy another things that had bonus points on.

I'm not sure how i went about getting these "targeted" coupons (if i'm not mistaken i had to sign up on the Rexall site for offers) .. but my family calls me the "coupon Queen" and our son calls us "Airmiles Whores" I have NO problem with Airmiles AND Metro following my shopping patterns "big brother style" This specific one came on Friday so if you don't have it by now it ain't coming ... just checked my e-mail and i've been getting one of these EVERY WEEK for the last several months

Update: just got another e-mail with a coupon for Rexall .... If anyone wants, i'll forward this to you :)
