Airmiles PH to AP

Has anyone used an Airmiles reward PH and upgraded to a AP? Hoping to make two trips to Disneyland next year!!!!

I haven't done it for California but have for Florida and it was really quick and easy. I took my Airmiles ticket, used it, then as I left the park, I stopped by customer service and had my ticket upgraded to AP. I love Airmiles - it makes Disney so affordable.

Is it necessary to use a day first before buying the AP? Seems like you are throwing away a bit of money. I might have previously read that this is the only way to go however.

The ticket is being used to upgrade to AP so instead of buying the AP for $552.74, you just pay the difference. I paid $254.68 to upgrade my Airmiles ticket to the Disneyworld AP. I don't think that you have to use it first, some people have posted by using it first, the ticket is reset to current gate value. Since we were there at park opening, I didn't want to waste precious minutes in the morning line up for tickets so we just went in and as we left, there was no line up so upgrading was quick.

I stayed offsite so had to pay for parking and I bought the parking receipt with me and asked if they would credit me for the parking that I paid because the AP includes parking - they said, sure no problem and were happy that I had the receipt to show proof of having paid for parking.

Upgrading a ticket to the AP is very easy - it only took about 3-4 minutes. I hope this helps.

I have upgraded airmiles tickets to AP for Disneyworld many times, it is quick and easy. I have been told to use the original pass at least once and then upgrade it. The reason being is that Disney attaches the price they sold the ticket to Airmiles for, and this value can be less than the actual value you would pay at Disney's ticket booth. Once the Airmiles ticket has been used once to get into the park, its value is reset to reflect the Disney ticket booth price. Just make sure you upgrade to AP before the last day on your pass is used or before the "14 day after first use" window closes.
