Metro had bonus 100 air miles with $100 spent last weekend and tomorrow they are doing 95 air miles with $95 spent. Maybe we're finally going to see shades of Safeway!!! Sure hope so.
I'm pleased to say that I was able to gain the air miles I needed and more for our May trip to Florida. I received the three Universal 1 day/1 park tics (2250 air miles) I ordered on Monday night, yesterday! Yes, only took two days to get here.
I will say that I applied myself and it was a fair amount of work however well worth it as it saved us almost $300 for those tics! I did a combination of Metro, LCBO, Rexall, airmiles.ca, air miles blue lounge (bonus 100 for $100 of Boston Pizza gc's) got the bonus credit card points and two months worth of statement points. I didn't buy anything that we would not use and stocked up on a number of things. One of the first weeks in mid-January had Shreddies on at Metro (15 am's for every two bought on sale) and DS just opened the last box yesterday.

I definitely did a lot of flyer trolling and had my lists at the ready when going to the store.
I'm a Gold member

as you only need 1000 air miles for that and not just base, bonus counts to this status as well. There were several surveys and other opportunities for feedback where I gained miles as well as 100 points for signing up for the Safeway newsletter. My DSis lives in Winnipeg, so she signed me up for the card. I'll use it eventually when I go to visit her.
I know there are a lot of people who have been collecting far longer than I have who are not pleased with the recent changes to the program, however I'm glad I finally joined. I hope the most recent Metro changes signal more improvements to come.
