Airmiles Armchair Chatter

Apparently, two years ago I was at Disney riding Guardians for the first time. I wish I was back there! I'm not even sure when I'll get to plan another trip there, so I'll just keep trying to save AM and dream of the next trip. I think I'd even be good with a quick long weekend.
Hi Hon
I am in the same boat here.
I love going in the winter time but not so sure about next year. For now I am just saving Airmiles.
Time will tell.
I think a weekend trip to Niagara Falls in the next few months might help a bit.
Hugs to you
Mel

I checked regularly today but no surveys for me,,, maybe I have been disconnected for lack of participation.(I'm ok with that).
I will be having my oldest son's cat (Miles) come to live with me so I made a cat food/treat order today . Not many Airmiles (4) but hey it's something.

Nite All
Hugs Mel
I think that is the one from April 11,

Advice and help appreciated
Well this did not go well.
My sons cat was being kept in Breakfast room until He (Miles) & my cat adjusted ,,,Cocoa managed to get the sliding pocket door open and all H@LL broke loose at 3 am. No injuries but a lot of cat yelling and chasing .
Poor boy Miles is hiding in my room now.
I am not sure this is going to work.
:sad::sad::sad::sad:
Any advise is appreciated.
Can I make this work?
Hugs Mel

I haven't done this myself Mel but it makes sense so here goes. Keep them separate but get Cocoa used to Miles scent by rubbing a washcloth over Miles (to pick up his scent) then present this washcloth to Cocoa with treats in hand. Slow and steady was what I also read.

Can you lock the door to the breakfast room? I used to have a hook and eye that I screwed into the door and door frame to lock a door in this house. Easy to fill the two holes when no longer needed and it should be strong enough that Cocoa can't open the door.

The one thing to watch out for is if either of the two cats decide to start marking territory. That would become a deal breaker for me. Your nose will let you know if this is happening.

Happy pet mothers day!

It isnt too late, try again and separate them as you were doing. Sounds like you will need a way to keep that door closed. I have a cat that opens doors too, we had to put child locks on all the doorknob. Not sure how to help with a sliding door though. It may take a bit longer after a bad start but they will get better. I have 4 cats, one who loves everybody, one who only likes him, and two who are nuts and not always nice to everyone, but they all have enough space that there are no big fights. The last cat to join us stayed in my room for a week before she met any of the others. Making sure they have places they can go away from the other will be key, and it doesn't mean a huge house, just maybe a couple cat trees if they are climbers, or spaces that are cave like, different rooms.

And get a big enough couch, mine all want to sit with me on it, and the dog, and I end up with no space. Or a cat sitting on the floor staring at me to move.

Thank You
My brother in-law just installed a eye & hook on the door ,,,I shall sleep much better tonight.
Happy Mothers Day!

My sister and I used to catsit each other's cat when each of us travelled.

We'd lock the visiting cat in her designated room while mine had full roaming privileges during the morning/early afternoon. Then in the late afternoon/evening, we'd lock ours in a different room, while Visiting cat got to roam. When Visiting Cat retired for the night, ours would be released. Eventually, we were able to open the door of whichever cat was 'locked' in and they might both roam. They did hiss when they were in the same room, but that's (almost) all it was. By the end of a two week stint, there was a truce-no love, but a truce. The biggest problem was that Visiting Cat was a bully and tried to boss ours around, eat her food, and sit in her safe spaces. I do think that had we had Visiting Cat for longer than 2 weeks at a time, it might have gone more smoothly.

I appreciate it.
I am unsure how long I will have Miles and your sharing helps me greatly.

I think the goal is really what Debbie described, they "tolerate" each other, I don't think they need to be BFF's. Take it slow and it will be ok. Try not to worry about it. It is very nice of you to be taking this on for your son and his cat.

Hello all! Just checking in. Things have been hectic lately but I've been following along with all of you. I managed to squeeze in 18 miles in surveys late Friday night. Charged a bunch to my MC but no idea if any of that counts. So a nice chunk of miles from the surveys at least. I think I will maybe continue on with those, will be great to waste time when I'm waiting at appointments....still taking DD places and have been taking my mom too. Supposedly my mom has told someone that I will be driving her to a lot of doctors appointments. No idea if that actually means she's going to deal with her cancer.

I hope everyone had a nice Mother's Day! I spent mine building replacement planter boxes. My neighbour likes to drive/park on our front yard so years ago we put in large wood planter boxes right along that side of our yard. The lady was on my yard daily and within a month of putting the boxes in, she hit it....hit it hard and damaged her car pretty good. They then switched to him parking on our side of their driveway. Well, last fall he hit the box. This one left the box damaged beyond repair. A little funny, but not at the same time, both times they said nothing about it. So now the boxes are done and I've got a bunch of really sore muscles.

Neighbors can be the best and sometimes the worst.
I live in a garden home so I am ground floor and one neighbor above
who has a kid that does gymnastics and 2X everyday. I really miss the accountant senior lady that lived there.
Bless you Dancin Disney Style ,,, caring for kids and a mom too can be so overwhelming at times. I'm sure they both treasure you.

So far no interactions between the two cats.
Miles is wanting to explore so we will have to work that out.

Hugs everyone
Mel

Does anyone use the vacuum sealing storage bags for travel? I got some mother's day amazon money and looking at them for whenever i can travel, I think I'd be able to just use a personal item if I can find a nice one. But I wonder how well they really work. I am looking at one with an electric pump/vacuum thingy, in a variety of sizes. If anyone has a brand they'd recommend I'd love to hear :)

They work well BUT your clothes come out very wrinkled….like been tied in knots for a year. Also, your bag ends up really heavy. So keep that in mind for lifting over your head or in the case of a backpack the weight on your shoulders.

You neighbours sound like one of mine, no boundaries what so ever.

LOL….she’s an alcoholic. In all the years we have lived here I have never once seen a bag of groceries come out of her car, just LCBO bags. Lots of pizza boxes in the blue box though. She talks to herself and wanders outside flapping her arms…I guess frustrated with the answers she gives herself. The husband is a nice guy. He drinks a lot of beer but we assume it’s a necessity to live with her.
