Airmiles Armchair Chatter

I will be covering hotels with AM. I agree with waking up at destination and having the full day. Most likely I will work Thursday right up until going to the airport. I actually don't see us doing much on that last day, maybe some shopping or maybe one of DD's friends will get us into one of the parks. To some degree I hate the homeless feeling of not having a hotel all day when we fly home late.

We are traveling American Thanksgiving weekend so I don't see prices dropping again. I think I've already missed it.
That last day can be a pain when cruising. It's suggested you don't book a flight before noon and there's not all that many flying before 7 p.m. We usually end up getting a day room at the Hyatt before our flight just to have a place to park our things.
I ended up booking Porter today and am trying something totally different. I booked the Hyatt at the airport for a one night stay with early check-in. We will spend the night and fly out at 8:30 the next morning. I figured if we book a day room and then have to book a hotel in T.O. the same night, I might just as well book a stay in one place and then just travel home the next day. We wouldn't need to have a room in T.O. Never tried this before so will see if it works out well. I think it just might.
As for your options, 2 sounds good although none of them would be bad. The joys of decisions.

That's so strange. All of the Pharmasaves I've seen are just regular drug stores...but they're franchises so perhaps look for a different one.
I know the Pharmasave that I was at in Saskatchewan was a normal drug store but the ones around me in Ontario are definitely not.

For the Shop the Block I wonder if Rewarding Your Opinion would count as one. It's an easy and fast one to do. It's not shopping but it's one of their sponsors. Thoughts?

The options for flights back are limited. WJ had only two and both are before noon. AC has four with two before noon and the other two are 12:20pm and 10:15pm. The price difference is far too high to even consider the 12:20pm. Then there is Porter but the fact that there is only one flight per day bothers me.
Where are you flying to that it’s 8:30am?

DH is now saying to take the Thursday to Sunday….its the highest in miles at 6220

Flying to T.O. (YYZ). It's direct which makes me happy. I will only do direct. First time with Porter.
When I originally looked at doing this with AMs, not even a week ago, it was almost 1500 AMs more than when I booked today. The odd part is, if I paid in cash it was $150 p.p. cheaper when I first looked. I've never been able to figure AMs out, it sometimes seems so random.

Double check your return flight time….all I’ve seen is an 8:30pm flight back to YYZ.
Maybe going to YTZ…Billy Bishop

Sorry gang, there's zero chance that I start and monitor a thread for the StB. Might I suggest that you use this thread and list the offers you've completed so that you'll be able to come back and refer to it later.
I just keep getting new symptoms pop up, no question it's a virus but dang, it's kicking my butt! Dizzy, headache, every single joint aches (even my toes!)bit of a sore throat, just the occasional cough or sneeze
This is with me being fully maxed out on Tylenol

Oh Dear! Please take good care of yourself. Hibernate. You will have plenty of lovely sunshine while away but for now, stay warm inside.
Sending healing thoughts your way. Feel better soon.

LOL...my girls are adults. We stopped stockings a few years ago and in terms of presents it's things like snow tires or concert tickets.
I don't have little kids either. I wish I could get out of the stocking thing but apparently it's their favourite part...and yup, I did snow tires already. This year I was thinking car emergency kit complete with snacks so that might help me with the airmiles bonuses

same. it seems to include every other way of getting a point...but I'm scared to test it.

I also want to know if the miles I collect for other bonuses will count for Shop the Block or do I need to collect them more than once. I'm just coming back to AM...in NS there wasn't much reason to collect them until Pharmasave jumped in because you couldn't collect enough to do anything with them.

Sorry it's a bit blurry, read the T/C for Shell offers. At the very bottom is this little tidbit. You will earn 1AM for $5 purchased in store (plus some bonus miles). The 1AM earn will qualify for STB

When my still living with us daughter converted to Judaism, I asked about the stocking, since she asked for Hanukkah gifts, not Christmas. She reasoned since the stocking was a lot of essentials-toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant, candy…-she’d like to keep the stocking for Christmas morning. AND when the 5 kids were little I stupidly started the wrap everything in the stocking, so she wanted to keep that tradition as well! 🤪 Last year I was sending home the wrapped ornaments to those who don’t live with us I handed hers to her, and she “Oh, no! That’s our Christmas Eve tradition. I’ll open then!” Chrismakkah it is. 🎄🕎

100 percent. the stocking is where you put things like hair ties and shower gel, and maybe a little nicer than ones they would buy for themselves.

I also put some little gift cards like for gas or coffee, so I can see why they wouldn't want to give them up

Feel better soon .. there’s a lot going around out there

I'm currently sifting thru all the cancelation terms on everything we've booked because the little witch with a B finally caught up to me 😫 we've got 9 days left to go, hubby still seems to be OK, I've slept in the spare room since I started feeling icky on Saturday night, we're not spending time in the same room without masks.
Super happy i paid the extra $100 ($50 each) to get 100% of our Porter flights refunded right up to boarding with no questions asked. We already have tickets my annual pass from airmiles and his are the goodwill ones gifted to us when my mom died. The rooms are RO and i think i have 5 days? We'll rebook but zero chance of getting the same rates
