Airmiles Armchair Chatter

We sail HAL all the time I do never have my meds in original containers at-prescription (blister packs) and over the counter. We've never been asked about them. Heck I've tossed everything(vitamins, Tylenol, ibuprofen) into one bottle and dug out what I needed. I have imodium, Pepcid, antihistamine all just one of the sleeves and tossed in to my 'medicine' bag. We are cruising to Alaska on Sunday, and the packing is (just about) done.
We're on the Inside Passage cruise on the 22nd. Miss you by one week. I wanted this to be an easy (no rough seas) cruise as I haven't been on a ship in years. This is my dipping my toes in the cruising water. The next Alaska cruise will include a trip to Denali for sure.

My packing is almost done as well. (I'm a little excited)

WHat about trying thru the personal shopper on AM?
Just an update: Personal Shopper said that they could not source the Canadian Resident Park Hoppers.

I did chat with Disney and they confirmed that Canadian Resident base tickets could be upgraded by paying the difference to Canadian Resident Park hoppers if done by November 6th (the promo purchase deadline).

Probably going to go for the base tickets then once the appear on the MDE I will upgrade.

Thanks for posting information, I may do hoppers as well.

Note that Disney MAY charge you a bit more than the hopper addon price to upgrade IF airmiles purchased the tickets at a discount price. The added cost would be the discount given to airmiles. Only mentioning it as this has happened in the past. If you purchase and add on the hoppers, please post again!

It’s been a very long time since AM was able to purchase discounted tickets. The only fluctuation in price now pertains to the exchange rate.

I do think seasickness is different for everyone. I get very seasick yet I seldom get ill on a cruise. There are exceptions. I had a friend who brought her littles and her mother on a DCL cruise. It was actually my first cruise. The littles decided that we would have a tea party before we went to dinner and ordered a few cheese plates for nibbles. They had an inside cabin and I was only able to stay in it for 10-15 minutes before I HAD to leave. I felt all the movement of the ship. Some people don't feel a thing, they certainly didn't. Add to that, they often sell out very quickly.
On the first night of a cruise, if our dinner is in a dinning room without windows I feel it and get queasy. I can honestly say I have never been in an ocean view cabin on deck two but I have seen video of it and even that makes me feel queasy. Seeing the water churn, the waves break, nope. Not for me. BUT tons of people love them. I prefer higher up. I don't need a veranda, if I do have one bonus but we don't use it to much. As long as I can see distance when in my cabin, I'm fine. When walking around the ship I don't even think about it so maybe some of it is in my mind? When it all comes down, I'm just happy to be on vacation and if it's cruising I'm in. :boat:
DH felt absolutely nothing while I was wandering around like a drunk. The inside cabins are super popular because of the virtual porthole. In a way I wish we had never stayed in a verandah because I would never know what I was missing. I enjoyed it very much and used it a lot. This cruise is going to be very different regardless. I want to really enjoy things on the ship.

:offtopic:

I was chatting with my casual co-worker yesterday - she WON one of the trips that we all recently put our names into.

She won a 4 day cruise. She didn't know all the details yet - but She did know it was with Royal Carribean stopping in Bahamas and one other stop. She wasn't sure which port she is sailing out of.

She just got her email at the end of Aug and thought it was a fake email - until she looked into it a little further. It will be a great little get away for her and her dh.

I will say I'm a little envious of her winning it, but at least I know someone who won it ::yes:: She is just deciding which weekend they want to cruise on. They were given a couple of dates - she still has to choose.

Well it's been 6 months since we have had a
Airmiles MAX Pass Promo. Come on Airmiles we are waiting!

LOL...the last one was when I got home from my trip and had to take my mom to the emergency room. Followed by a 6 day hospital stay. Well guess what? We just did emerg two days in a row with an eventual admission and now probably an 8-9 day stay. Gallbladder the last time, spinal fracture this time. So if Max Pass popped up now that would be some weird karma. No thank you.

I believe the Blue Jays are at home that day!

Healing thoughts for your mom. @dancin Disney style
Thank you. I am so not cut out for this stuff. I thought I was in the time of my life where I was rather free. No kids, pay check is all mine, do anything I please, my biggest issue should be socking away the extra money my financial planner has said I need in order to retire early. BUT NO....now I'm becoming caretaker for the next several months. Trying to organize keeping my mom on one floor in her house for a month or more. Groceries, laundry, housekeeping etc. etc. Yes, I do know how I make myself sound and it's not good. I feel guilty for that. It's been difficult for many years, always walking on eggshells for fear of saying something wrong.

A more fun topic....
I've read the terms for the AM travel offer for Orlando. I can't figure out if I can book say flights and hotel totaling 8000 AM or more and get the 50% return. It says something about the 3 different offers not being cumulative meaning it maxs out at the 8000 miles level. I get that but I don't see that you can/or can't make multiple reservations up to the highest level.

I've missed the boat on the lowest airfare....could have had round trip for $502 cash which would have made no sense to redeem miles. So now the flight I'm considering will likely be 8200 miles but if by chance it dropped by Monday I would also want to book hotels to get up over the 8000 miles.

Am I making any sense?

Sometimes, I think these boards need a hug reaction.
