LOL...the blue and white slides in that article are Vionic and I bought those exact ones a few weeks ago. Wore them in the house for 15 minutes and my feet were burning. The arch is so high that it hurt. I returned them which was a bit sad as I actually liked them.

Yesterday I returned the Hokas without issue so that was great. There was a New Balance store so I went in and tried the flex foam. I found a pair that I thought were nice but they felt really squishy so I'm not sure if that is good or not. This was an outlet store so they didn't do the foot scan. I'm going to go to the store that does that on Monday. Then I went to Nike and bought a new pair BUT I have 60days to return so I will see if I find something better. After that I went to The Running Room. That was a waste of time. The guy that I spoke to recommended the Hokas and when I said I had them and they didn't work for me he kind of shrugged and walked away. I stood there for a minute and then another staff member asked if I was ok.....I think because I looked angry.

I find there is no good customer service these days. If and when it happens it makes your day.

Dollarama
Limit 1 offer per Day unfortunately
However it says it can be combined with other offers????
Right now if I use the BMO Dollarama offer and the regular Dollarama offer would that work?

* Offer available to AIR MILES collectors with a linked Canadian-issued Mastercard (“Eligible Mastercard”). Offer valid June 1, 2024 - August 31, 2024. Valid while quantity of AIR MILES Bonus Miles last at Dollarama stores in Canada. Minimum qualifying purchase of $30 must be made in a single transaction on an Eligible Mastercard, and includes taxes, duty, eco fees, shipping and handling as applicable. For clarification, minimum qualified spend is calculated based on the entire purchase, being the total amount that is posted to the Eligible Card’s statement. Limit of one (1) offer per day per collector number. This offer can be combined with other offers. AIR MILES reserves the right to make changes to this offer and to terminate the offer at any time, for any reason and without notice. Your AIR MILES collector number must be linked to an Eligible Mastercard. Your Mastercard account must be in good standing at the time the Bonus Miles are awarded. To qualify for the offers, eligible purchase transactions charged to your Eligible Mastercard must be subsequently posted to your Mastercard account by August 31, 2024. In the case of an online purchase made during the offer period, it may not qualify if the Eligible Mastercard is charged on the shipping date and that date occurs after the offer ends. Mastercard is not responsible for the fulfillment of the offers. Purchases made by an authorized user per day of a supplementary card linked to the Eligible Mastercard do not qualify, unless the supplementary card is also linked to the AIR MILES collector number. Please allow up to 30 days after the unique offer’s end date for Bonus Miles to be posted to the collector account. Collectors who previously manually linked their AIR MILES collector number to their Eligible Mastercard and who no longer wish to participate in exclusive card-linked offers can unlink their Mastercard from their AIR MILES collector number at any time at airmilescardlink.ca/unlink. The unlink feature is not available to collectors with a BMO AIR MILES credit card that was automatically linked to their AIR MILES collector number by BMO’s auto-link feature.

I don't know if my BMO credit card is linked to Dollarama or to my other credit card I linked it to?
I use my other credit card at Dollarama and get the Airmiles so I don't think mine is linked.
Recent posting.

Mel, can you change the colour of the highlighted words. I can't read them. It might be the colour I have my background set to that is causing issues. NVM I changed my background colour.

My Vet's office suggested contacting them and setting up and appointment 2 or 3 months in advance of travel so that all the required paperwork could be completed in advance of travel. This is going to be a real PIA for people who show dogs across the border. Just more paperwork for already overworked Vets here in Canada.

pay close attention when booking flights with WestJet going forward from YESTERDAY (i think this is what irks me the most, i didn't see any advance notice-poor business practices IMHO) no more "basic fare" been replaced with "ultra basic fare" i like several of the "features" for everyone else - no carry-on and they board last.
*EDITED TO ADD* preassigned seats in the rear of the plane with no guarantee that you will be seated together (except minors of course) unless you pay a LOT to change those seats
before people go all up in arms with WestJet, this is exactly the model Porter has had in place from day 1 - you get a seat in the plane price and can either add on features or pay a higher price to begin with
here's an example, and for what it's worth, again, only my thoughts, pay the extra money up front to the next fare level! It's not a lot more

I just got an email about this from WestJet this morning!

WestJet is committed to providing our guests with fare options that provide affordability, choice, and flexibility. We want to empower our guests to choose the products and services they value most so they can match their travel experience to both their preferences and budget.

As a valued member, we wanted to inform you that on June 4, 2024, our Basic fare is being replaced by our new UltraBasic fare. UltraBasic is still our lowest price fare option and will result in price reductions across domestic and transborder routes. However, it does come with restrictions. It is important to understand the limitations of UltraBasic and what this means for you and your benefits:

  • Carry-on bags: Carry-on bags are not permitted unless you are travelling on a transatlantic or transpacific flight, or if you purchase Extended Comfort for all flights in a single direction, including connections. Personal items that fit under the seat in front are allowed and there is the option to check a bag in advance for an additional fee. If you arrive at the gate with a carry-on bag when not permitted, it will be checked with both a checked bag and a service fee applied.
  • Pre-assigned seats: You will be automatically assigned seats at the back of the aircraft, including middle seats, which may not be together if you are travelling with others. You have the option to choose your seats for an additional fee.
  • Boarding: You will be the last to board.
  • Not eligible for changes: Changes, cancellations, or refunds are not permitted with this fare.
  • WestJet Rewards earn: Opting for this fare means you’ll miss out on earning WestJet dollars and tier qualifying spend.

We believe these changes will help us continue to provide competitive air travel options while focusing on operational excellence. By expediting the boarding process and optimizing cabin space, we aim to enhance on-time performance and improve your travel experience.

I think the issue I'd have with WJ doing this is their base fare is higher than Porters. So adding things on makes it much more cost prohibited. But they (WJ) barely flies out of Ottawa now any way so I'll use Porter or AC.

Yes, and an added expense, Vet’s offices won’t be doing this for free (nor should they).

To add to the Porter conversation.

Dh travelled to Boston via Porter. He flew out of Edmonton - Ottawa - Boston. He was impressed with them. He loved being able to work on his laptop while in the air on the Edmonton / Ottawa portion.

We will definitely look at them for flights in the future. He wasn't impressed with the Dash -8 with the eggbeater propellers on the Ottawa -Boston leg. As that is what is flown out of our local airport to Calgary. That plane is just uncomfortable and loud. But like I said - he was impressed that we would definitely look into them for future trips - if we are travelling out of a bigger centre.

Looks like all you need is the rabies form to have the microchip number on it and you have to fill out a form online before you go with the dog's picture and his microchip number. Really shouldn't be that much of a hassle once if you've got the microchip number. Doesn't look like it is something that you need to see a vet for each time.

in 2023 i wore a pair of Hokas that were pink-ish and even had hidden mickey heads, that were great for my feet, super comfy and easy to walk in for hours. Cut to this year when I developed Fat Pad Syndrome and it felt like I was walking on broken glass embedded in hot pavement. Went the route of custom orthotics which only seemed to let me walk for about 30 minutes before I wanted to scream. Enter the blessing that is the new pair of shoes that I got before this year's trip : new balance Foam X Trail More v3 hiking shoes. They are A-MAZ-ING, feels like I'm walking around with pillows strapped to my feet. They're rocker bottom type so it keeps me from staying on my heels too much which is perfect. They might look ridiculous but I do not care! I added some elastic laces so I can slip in and out of them easily and I wear an old pair of sketchers in the house instead of slippers. Getting old SUCKS

Side note, the staff at the clinic that was trying to help get my orthotics to the point they would help before our trip showed me these shoes and said for my problems there is no breaking in period with shoes, I should put them on and know instantly if they are good or not. If they don't feel comfortable as soon as I stand up and take a few steps they never will.

Hunted high and low for these shoes in the same colour. Finally found them at Sportscheck and on sale. Of course Sports Check is not an air miles store, but Aeroplan has Sports Check listed. Ordered them tonight via the Aeroplan EStore and should be shipped to my house in 2 to 3 days. Fingers crossed they are a good fit and work for my feet. If not I can return to my local Sports Check store. Of course they were out of stock at my local Sports Check store.

Just checked still on sale but only size 6, 6.5 and 7 left in stock

Glad i ordered yesterday

Picked up another $200 in Disney Gift Cards from Metro yesterday. Have to use up some Cash Miles and since Metro is leaving, thought I should make hay while the sun shines. They didn't even blink an eye. The cashier actually told me she was getting ready to trade her AMs in for GCs before the end of the program with them. Wish all the Metros were that easy.
Now, to go pay off our cruise.

I am so glad I live close enough to fly southwest from New York state to Orlando

Two free checked bags
Credit when the fare drops
Snacks and beverages on the flight
In flight Entertainment on your personal device
No complaints with Southwest
I miss flying SW. Never had anything but outstanding customer service. Problem now is that they have significantly less non stops to MCO and the price is always higher than flying from YYZ.

One March break trip we were at WDW and see that Buffalo is going to get a massive amount of snow on the day we have to go home. I call SW to see what we can do and immediately we are put on another flight even though it’s full. I question if it’s sold out how can you put me on it. He says don’t worry, I’ve added early bird at no cost so for sure you will be on it…he who checks in first flys.

My July flights were $144 us down and $154 us back when i booked so far they have dropped in price a couple of times and I have individual $49 dollar credits for all four flights.

Syracuse airport for SW flights will not be available after 4 Aug 2024.

Albany has more direct flights then Rochester.

I have flown from Buffalo in the past but I do not like theToronto drive to get there.

They also need the form to be signed by your vet and the dog needs a healthy certificate from the vet within 30 days of travel (if I'm reading the online bot information correctly)

Check with your vet if you're planning on travelling to the US with you dog. Better safe than sorry.
