While on our cruise in Feb. we went to the DVC presentation. We have always gone because they gave you a $50 OBC for attending. Last year we accidentally went to the DVC gathering for members thinking it was the sales presentation. Once we noticed we left and the person at the door asked if everything was okay and I just explained that we were not members and were at the wrong meeting. The CM told us to stay, which we did not, and gave us a sheet with an invitation to the sales meeting. We received the $50 twice and not sure if that had anything to do with it.
This cruise, however, you only received a shoulder Hei Hei which was very disappointing. I guess they caught on to the fact some people were only going for the room credit (finger pointed right at me).
Having said all that, we received a package today from the DVC group that was a total surprise. It has a very cute luggage tag, a string shoulder bag, a DVC whiteboard with marker and some stickers. We have never gotten anything more than a phone call or an email after visiting the sales pitch. Unexpected but it's always so nice to get Mickey mail!

The marketing presence of Disney's timeshare program continues to grow with word that a Welcome Home Center is planned for the EPCOT theme park. Dubbed Chateau de Voyage, the new location will be located in the park's Canada Pavilion. It is billed as the first in-park Welcome Home Center at Walt Disney World.

It appears the spot will be similar to Gateway to Discovery at Disney Springs and Golden Vine House at Disney California Adventure, serving as a walk-in sales location for individuals to learn more about the Disney Vacation Club program. Chateau de Voyage will feature a walk-through model room of Island Tower at Disney's Polynesian Village Resort. Gateway to Discovery has its own model villa for Disney's Riviera Resort.

LOL
Perhaps not the best thought out plan and timing??

My first thought was, doesn't Epcot already have a DVC center but then I realized it is the Annual Pass that has a center.
You are right Mel, it's not the bet thought out plan what with the current state of affairs. I wonder if they are hoping to target Canadians, it would make a bit more sense on why I would get a gift box from them. I would bet, putting DVC aside, that we may see a lot of new Canadian offers since the market may be flatlining. I don't know the numbers but I could see Canada being one of their biggest visitors, next to the US of course. We shall see.

I am now buying items and stocking up when I see sales. We are scrapping the bottom of our freezer now since dh and son didn't hunt last fall. So that is our #1 priority for this fall. Luckily we have family friends who let us hunt on their land. They are farmers so the elk and moose are basically grain fed. We are lucky enough to have multiple Hutterite and Mennonite colonies around who sell their game for decent prices.

I've gone back to weekly baking. I bake all our bread items, as well as cookies and muffins. I will be doing more garden pots this year. I've started my tomato plants already and am planning on potatoes again this year. The past few years, I've had good luck with my grow bags and had a good bushel of potatoes at the end of the season.

I will be going to the farmer's market for fresh veggies over the summer (even though it is more expensive than the grocery store - it supports local people) and picking up extra pickling cucumbers to make my own this year. Along with my tomatoes I'm growing to make my own salsa, pasta sauce, and hopefully sundried tomatoes. I'll also be visiting a You-pick farms for fruit to try my had at jam and pie filling.

I am going back to how my mom did some things growing up and making what I can. I may try more canning this year - but I will see how much time I actually have to do that.

Have a great day everyone!!!! Off to see if I can score a few extra AM.
I feel healthy just reading that

There is a daily meeting with a different gift each day. People go everyday just to get the gift. Not uncommon for people to walk in, get the gift and leave.
LOL…DD sweet talked her way into getting the Moana print. Mo is her girl and now after this last contract Jazzy and Poca too.

How is your daughter doing these days?
Well at this very minute we are sitting at the fracture clinic in the hospital waiting to see the orthopaedic surgeon. We were here two weeks ago and it was a three hour adventure. The end result of that was, DR can’t do a proper assessment until all the swelling is gone. In the meantime it’s been a few visits to the athletic therapist for rehab. Today, more X-rays and hopefully the swelling is down enough for scans.

The DR’s initial thought was that it was the knee cap popping out. She didn’t think it’s the ACL at that moment but said it could be a low grade tear or strain. A scan is required to confirm.

I think DD is ready to drive so that is helpful to me…BUT we sold one of our cars while she was gone. I still haven’t bought anything so for now DD will have to get up and drive me to work if she wants a car for the day.

I honestly deserve reward miles from the hospital. Was there on the 13th with DD, 4-ish hours. Then on the 18th for 3 hours. Again today, three hours. Last week with my mom for 2.5 hours and back again with her next Tuesday. I estimate that visit to also be 3 hours 🤦🏻‍♀️

Today the Dr ordered an MRI but it is more to just confirm that things look good rather than looking for something bad. The Dr is very pleased with how things looked today and gave instructions to amp up the therapy for the next four weeks. At that point she will reassess but thinks that she can clear DD to go back to work in approx 6-7 weeks from now.

I met with my one and only granddaughter for breakfast this morning.
Such wonderful fun! Banana ,chocolate and strawberry crepes.
I shared a story of my days as an activist for women's rights and how small triumphs can make a difference.
I was in grade 8 when my parents received a official reprimand from the school board for me wearing blue jeans. My parents were crushed.
It was against school Policy & code..................................................

So I and my girlfriends got together for the next three weeks at lunchtime and changed into our *Blue Jeans* and sat outside of the school on a hill outside the Principals office for the afternoons .
Interestingly enough the boys started joining us dressed in skirts and dresses.

The actions we took started happening at other schools and the School Board finally relented and changed their policy & Codes.

The triumphs of our moms should never be forgotten or taken away.

Hugs Mel

Oddly enough I had my BFF since the age of 13 mention the very same thing just last week. She sent me a picture meme about it that was so cute. I'll have to see if I can find it.
Yes, we were in high school when we started that fight. We wore jeans to school and got sent home many many times. Finally had a 'sit in' which brought the school board into it. Polly never gave in. Things soon changed though. Small triumphs add up, they do make a difference. I love that your group had the males dressing up to help, I don't believe our boys were that dedicated to the cause.

Our kids will take any and all good thoughts and wishes that anyone cares to offer up. This is Arthur's dad posting on Facebook this evening, the end of his 3.5 year renovations, literally washed away. His decision to purchase an electric vehicle was very wise!
Hope no one else in our group got hit by this killer storm system

Wow, that’s rough. Best wishes to them to get it all cleaned up and back to normal.

I know a few people up around Orillia. I’ve heard a couple of really dumb things this week. Like…there’s no power but let’s go to Tim’s. Or…we’re board, let’s go drive around. Oops, we ran out of gas but the stations are closed because there is NO POWER 🤦🏻‍♀️

Does anyone know if Costco would qualify as a store for the current 80 AM offer this weekend? I know they list the codes for the stores, but how do you tell who they would apply to?

In the list, it doesn't mention Wholesale Clubs (that is the wording for Costco that I see in my transaction list from when I have shopped at Costco and received points). I think the code for Wholesale Club is MCC 5300 and that code isn't on the list for eligible retailers.
