I recently converted a load of Tesco points into Airmiles with the intention of booking flights to New York in August 2011. The idea was to book a 3 week flight to New York and then get internal flights to Orlando after a few nights there.

Can anyone advise whether this will be a non-starter? I know that scheduled airlines don't generally release their flights till 11 months ahead, but what about airmiles? I have obvioulsy tried their website but it is too early.

Do Airmiles flights become available in the summer holiday period or am I going to be wasting my time checking there site every day?

I have no experience of using airmiles and would be grateful for any assistance in booking these flights.

Hi

We converted our Clubcard points to Airmiles as well and leave in 11 days time!

By the time we had enough miles all the flights to Miami and Orlando were full so we've chosen to fly into Washington for a few days and then internal flights with Jetblue to Orlando.

Had no trouble getting Washington flights but New York was full - however we only booked 8 months out so you may have more luck.

Sounds great, thanks for the reply. We would like to fly from Manchester ideally, so we won't have as many options unfortunately.

Hiya. We've done this a number of times now, and have got some good deals, but you need to be flexible. We are off on Sunday using Airmiles, but flying to Tampa. It's only an hour or so drive and meant that we got the exact flight dates we wanted. The hard bit is getting flights home at the end of August!

You do just need to keep checking the flights on the website at the 11 month window. Do try Tampa and Miami too, if you are happy to drive.

We went last March / April too, and that time we flew to Baltimore and drove down (we had friends living in Virginia at the time so at least had one night there then a 14 hour drive the next day). At the time we didn't have enough Airmiles for a flight to Florida, and Baltimore was in a nearer zone. Definitely do-able, but I don't think my husband would be up for it again - 14 hours in a car with 2 ASD/ADHD kids! Things we do to get to Disney, eh?
