Hello, we are about to finalize our upcoming trip and getting our flights through Travelocity. My questions is this, coming home we may have to fly Delta and then switch to Continental in Atlanta. What happens with your bags? I was thinking this is more of an opportunity for your bags to get lost. What do you think?

You bags will be checked through to your final destination and should be transferred behind the scenes where you connect to your second flight. Of course any scenario that adds extra handling to the baggage process increases the chances that luggage can be lost or misdirected, but usually it works out just fine and your bags make it to your final destination on the plane with you.

Yes, switching airlines is an excellent opportunity for your bags to be misdirected, but if you have a long layover in Atlanta, you should be fine.

It's best to stick with one airline - if there is a problem with one of the flights it will be a lot easier to make alternative arrangements working with only one airline.

You may want to reconsider booking through Travelocity - again if there's a problem, you're adding another layer of complication.
