Could you all please share your exspience with Delta and/or NWA. I am about to purchase my airfare and I have never flown with either before. I will be flying out of Indianapolis.
ATA would have been my first choice but honostly I am a little scared to purchase ATA tickets right now. (Actaully most of the airlines appear to be unstable at this point but ya know) ATA is down to one fight per day as opposed to the mulitple flights they had before their last announcement. If they cut anymore I will be out of luck. Anyway if I fly Delta we would have 1 connection each way (Cincinati going and Atlanta coming back) But we could take an evening flight after work on Friday and have a whole day Saturday. NWA has a direct flight to MCO and back but we would get to Disney until 6:30pm Saturday (blaah).

Not knowing anything thing about either airline doesn't help.

What do you think?

The two airlines I try to avoid at all costs are Delta and NW. Delta has a wonderful tendancy to be late and change things at the last minute without telling you. Unfortunately they are the major carrier around here and I don't get a choice with my company.

Northwest delayed us for over 3 hours (one hour of which is because they couldn't move the plane parked on the tarmac to the gate) and then their flight attendants and customer service were not helpful in getting our connecting flight fixed.

I would go with either NW or Delta. As the above post indicates any of them could have a bad day and I perfer to have a bad day with airlines that have LOTS of flights so that the bad day doesn't leave me completly stranded.

I fly DL all the time, I find them on time and they rarely change my flights so who knows. It depends on the day, the weather a whole HOST of variables.

*ouch* I am having chest pains here. :( So far everything has been going smoothly for our trip in October. But the last few posts I've read have something negative to say about Delta. :( They're my carrier for our trip. :( I have flown on lots of airlines and had few problems (knock on wood) but now I am getting nervous.

I think the key is you're going to find people that have bad experiences on EVERY airline. I travel a lot and I can honestly say I've had *A* bad experience on every one of them. But, 95% of the time the experience is nothing but good.

Carol hit it on the head... if you're concerned, book on the airline that has the most flights/options, that way if a flight is cancelled or delayed you have more options.

We've flown with almost all of the big airlines and with the exception of Delta (which we've actually used the most) have had a major problem on each airline. Northwest was our very worst experience and Delta last summer to and from Hawaii was the best ever!

We'll be flying Southwest for the first time next month and I really don't look forward to their cattle call at all.

And even though our experience with Northwest almost cost us our entire vacation if they have the best flight times, airport and price I'd fly again them again.

I've learned never to say never!

Living in Michigan, I tend to fly NWA a lot and I think they're really pretty good-- but I will say that they're gate agents and CS folks at MCO seem to be subpar. Flight attendants always seem to enjoy themselves.

Never flown Delta, but have been looking at them also lately since their rates have come down.

Our small airport has only US Air, Delta and Delta Connections, and a few NW flights. I've never flown NW, but so far have had very good experience with Delta and DC, mostly good service with US Air. I'd fly delta again.

If it was me, I'd take the direct flight, but then I'd be traveling with kids. If it was just DH and I, I wouldn't mind doing the connection and then having all day Saturday.

I fly NW 2-3 times a month. 99% of the time they are great. Everyone runs into a problem once in a while. Overall, they are very good.

For me, the lowest price of those two (all things being equal in terms of flight schedule) always gets my business when I fly anywhere. I prefer Delta, but that may have something to do with NWA being the GORILLA at Detroit Metro Airport (thank you Ed McNamara  ).

Good luck!

Dave
