I am thinking of taking my kids to Disney in August (got a pin deal, will hope free dining is offered at some point and change the package). It is just myself and 2 kids (which will be a first..recently divorced)...

Southwest flies out of boston now, but I am thinking of Aug 21-28 and those dates arent offered yet. When does that happen? Right now I cant find airfare for under 300$ a person from BOS-MCO, which is just too much. Any tips?

THANKS!

I live in MA, and I check flights from any airline from Manchester, Boston, Providence, and Hartford. Even with free bags, Southwest can be pretty expensive from Boston. At the beginning of the month, we flew Delta from Hartford to MCO at 189 a person. We needed 5 seats and paid for 2 checked bags each way. It ended up being 1045 when you included bags - WAY cheaper than any SW flight I could find.

I know that you live super close to Boston, but definitely check other airports and other airlines. Southwest is not always the best. HTH!

The next scheduled release date is February 8th, but keep checking back because SW doesn't always stick to their planned release dates.

I'm no help with typical prices from Boston. Hopefully you'll find a great deal somewhere though. :thumbsup2

Hi:
Another local here! Also, keep in mind, that SouthWest doesn't normally have nonstops from Boston so you are paying airport/security fees (or whatever they are called) twice. We generally fly out of Manchester or Providence nonstop with them.

Southwest hasn't scheduled ANY flights after mid August yet. I'm flying from New Orleans in October and I'll probably have to wait until March before I can book any thing.

You'll probably see new flights set in the next couple of weeks for the rest of August.

I'm looking for right around the same time.. I find that flying out of Manchester is much cheaper then out of Boston not to mention easier.. Manchester is a much simpler airport and you can get non stop flights

I agree ,although it may be easier for you to fly out of Boston... Prov. /Manchester are less expensive. I have flown out of them both.Check out SWA website to see.

Do download "DING" from SWA onto your computer. There is no rush to book flts. for August at thes point. There are many flts. to choose from and if you are "flexible" with your days and or times you can get a great deal on Ding.
Check out the Disboards transportation thread ...there is always write up /posts about SWA and Ding.

I have gone in August the last 3 visits and always book my flts. during the end of June/beginning of July. The rates seem to go down lower at those times and I check SWA website and Ding daily during that time.

Also, SWA travel on a Tues. or Wed. always seems to be cheaper !!!

Good Luck ...try to be flexible with dates/times and "Happy Planning":woohoo:

Just to add , I have gone with my DD the last 3 times to WDW...Just Mother/Daughter trips and we've had the best time !!!!!!!!!:cutie:
Have a Magical time Mom and your kids ....:woohoo:

I am actually a bit closer to PVD but we flew out of BOS using AirTran. We loved them. They were cheaper than SW, even with the checked baggage and assigned seat fees. We got non stop flights for about $200 per person. I checked for you and they do not have their fares published for those dates yet. If you would rather fly SW check out of PVD as they tend to be much cheaper from there. They have the kids pay and stay free deal. Have you compared that one to your pin code? Depending on where you are staying that may save you more. Not sure if you have visted WDW during that time but get the spray fans from WalMart to bring down with you. Those were a lifesaver for us!

Have fun!!!

I live in southern NH and fly to Orlando several times a year. We used to fly almost exclusively on Southwest. Over the last couple of years though we've found Airtran, Delta and JetBlue to be less expensive (even with paying baggage fees). I think we've flown Southwest maybe twice in the last couple of years, all the rest have been on other airlines.

Thanks everyone for all your responses! I have no issue driving to Manchester or Providence to fly (I used to work for Swissair out of Boston in my 20s for 10 years, so just am so used to Logan Airport!)

If I could find it for $200/pp, 600$ total for the 3 of us, I would be psyched with that and would fit well within my budget.

Thanks for all the tips.. My dates are very flexible since I work from home and can schedule time off as needed, so will read again what everyone wrote and try to make this happen!! I really am hoping for a dining deal, but booked a PIN room for now and plan to get try the YES program for tickets...
