this made me laugh! so true :rotfl:

To the OP: Without trying to get too personal can you let us in on which major airports you fly out of? That may help with some ideas on which airlines to look at (i.e. Southwest, Airtran...) Once we know that we can give you all kinds of tips!!

Thanks Traci -- I know it's true too -- You guys have saved me money on my upcoming trip with JetBlue!

Emiems20 -- you're in good hands here!

The tip to saving on airfare is checking every day or several times a day. It's knowing how much you are willing to spend. It's knowing when to book a great deal and not procrastinate. It's knowing how to rebook on southwest and take the ticketless travel funds. It's having patience. It's being willing to accept when you made a judgement error. It's practice.

It really doesn't take long to get up to speed on finding airfare. Use general sites like Kayak.com or sidestep to compare airfare. Use individual airline sites like southwest and air tran to get the most up to the minute info.

Everytime I book airfare the scenario is different. Sometimes I "hit" great airfare right away. Other times I have to check, rebook, check for weeks to months. I found great airfare to Orlando for my August trip by accident. Here it is - at least 6 weeks later - and I am still deciding whether to book at full fare for my return flight and wait for a Ding or sale.

Being up to date on airfare also means you should tell you friends when there is a good deal. Hey - guess what? $49 one way from PHL - MCO. Anyone going to Orlando this summer? I've helped more than a few coworkers book great airfare for this summer.

People at work love to ask me to find airfare. I'm really not doing anything they can't do, but I enjoy searching so I don't mind. :surfweb: Good luck!
