Hi everyone,

Got a great rate on the Disney Cruise for Easter week. However, airfare is outrageous. Any ideas on where to get good airfare rates?? Currently, best I can find is $1,500 for four of us (2 adults, 2 kids) from BWI (Baltimore, MD) to Orlando. I have tried leaving from Philly or DC, airfare is not any better.

How are the prices on airfare that DCL can offer??

I appreciate any advice.:confused3

Hi Did you try Southwest by any chance? We were on the Feb10 cruise and flew BWI to MCO on Southwest 2 adults and 2 kids as well and we paid $99 roundtrip per ticket. I booked the airfare 2 months before the cruise. I guess Easter week the prices would be higher? but $1500 yikes! Good Luck and have a great time on your cruise! I wish I were there!!

Check their own website...disneycruiseline.com...to check for air with the cruise package.

Word of warning...DCL only purchases a set amount of seats on planes...they maybe limited. We had to reschedule our cruise because our daughter was sick in January and I was hoping to go out in February around presidents week and they were all sold out...holiday time is going to be difficult...it will probably be high too...you know good ol' supply and demand economics!

By the way...we did Disney air with our package and we paid 1200 for 2 adults and 1 child...we probably could have gotten cheaper on our own, but we wanted the benefit of booking with Disney...if our air portion of our trip gets delayed or cancelled, you have a better chance of Disney working with you in catching another flight or rescheduling...and they have been known to hold a ship if they know that their "air" customers are on the way to the port...

When you do your own air, they aren't involved and don't care as much if your airline purchase and flight doesn't get you where you need to be...kinda like not having to take responsibility for the delay or cancellation so to speak....

Good luck...and by the way, what was your good cruise deal?

I would look at sites like expedia.com and other discount sites like that...I wouldn't do airfare through DCL. It's rather expensive, you could check though, maybe it would be cheaper than anything else around easter. but I know someone who flew through them and it was over $400 apiece (we flew roundtrip for around $200 apiece...this was in december/january though. Unfortunately when you're looking at flying around a holiday, prices will be higher. I would suggest flying a day or two earlier, then you can run around orlando for a little bit before the cruise.

I wouldn't suggest flying the day you sail anyway...I know some people do that...but some of my relatives did that on I think what was their first disney cruise, and the airlines lost their luggage, they almost missed the ship (they held the ship as long as they could) and they pretty much had no clothes the whole time...had to buy a bunch of disney shirts and stuff ($$$) and as for underwear...well they had to wash them every night. So it's just easier and less stressful to fly in a day or two early, and enjoy a park or two.

I dunno, hope that helps a little bit anyway :)

I normally would suggest booking air on your own....but since airfares are so high that week in general....it might be advantageous to book air with DCL....they usually have a set price...it may be equal or less than regular published fares. Since holiday travel can have many delays...you may be better off booking air with DCL (if you can still get it)...if there are delays they will help you get on another flight.

Can you fly out of Newark? If you could add a few days you could fly with usa3000 on Wed. for $89 each (1 way) to St. Pete - grab a car as it is just a 2 1/2 hr drive to the port. Return Mon. the 16th for $74/each. If you did this out of Philly you would have to make it out on Tues. the 3rd, returning Tues. the 17th. No scheduled trips out of Phillly that Fri. the 6th like they usually do, I suppose because of Good Friday. Hope this makes sense.
We are flying USA3000 and the renting a car still saves us a lot.

Just wanted to say Hi from B-more.

This late in the game thats about your price unless you catch a SWA DING special.Or see if you add a day each way if it would be cheaper to stay in an economy Hotel somewhere between the two.

Good luck

it's Easter week, prices are always higher then! I suggest you try to find something and book soon, because otherwise any good flights may be sold out, or you won't be able to sit together!

I must be out of touch with airfares because that seems about normal for a peak demand week, not even considering the jump in fuel prices.

We booked 4 seats (2 adult, one 3 yr old, one infant) for a little over $900 on Air Tran nonstop- did you try them?

Depending on the flights, you can check into flying into Jacksonville, FL (about 2 1/2 hours north of Port Canaveral), Daytona Beach, FL which about 1 hour north of the Port off of I-95 or Melbourne, FL which is probably 45 South of Port Canaveral off of I-95. Good Luck and have a great cruise.

I would check travelzoo. They can have a special running. Also, check spiritair. They do funny .01 one way flights sometimes. They get you soming home but would be much lower than what you are finding so far.
Good luck!!

We saved about $750 by flying down on Wednesday before Pres. week instead of Friday on Southwest. (Then again, we used the $$ to have a mini stay at Universal. If we had to spend that much, we figured we may as well go early and have some extra fun!) It's also often less $$ to fly into JAX (Jacksonville) and to rent a car--about 2 hours ride to the port.

We are booked on the Western for Easter week 4/7 -4/14, so I feel your pain regarding airfare! We booked through Air Tran and saved a little money. All airfare during this holiday time will be expensive, but the money I saved on the cruise portion more than made up for the airfare. Book very soon as I'm sure flights are selling out. Disney airfare was no longer available for me when I booked 2 weeks ago.

Have fun --- I know you're looking forward to your cruise. Welcome to the Dis boards!

Spirit will not have any specials during Holiday times! I tried them last yr for Thanksgiving and NWA was cheaper out of DTW(more flights to boot). Any holiday you are not going to get good fares.

I have been using farecompare and farecast to get myself familiar with the pricing on DTW-MCO during the times we will probably want to go.
