Just became a DVCer. Need advice on how to save cost on airline tickets from the DC area to Orlando. Any secrets in general? Idea? Hints? Thanks as always.

when I start flying again - I will do what I use too -

I am on both Southwest and Delta email list - so when they have a bargin - I know pretty fast - I go check it out - if they are dates that I can use - then while I still have the airlines system up I call MS - if MS has the availability - I go ahead and get the flight...

of course if I can't get a flight I can drive. It might be harder for you.

I'd check Air Tran...they have some direct flights from BWI...and some connecting flights through Atlanta.

The prices aren't so hot at the moment...but they do have great sales. I once flew from ATL to Grand Bahama Isl. for $39 each way (not including taxes and fees).

General transportation questions are best asked on the Transportation Board. I'll move this over there for you.

Enjoy!

What area of DC do you live? I'm in Virginia and got a great rate for AirTran out of Newport News, Va. I got a fare of $67.00 each way. These are a direct flight. If you a willing to drive a little you can find a better rate then the 3 major DC Airports. Newport News is a very small airport, but last time we flew we flew out of Newport News it was great. No crowds or lines. Only a couple of airlines fly out of Newport Airtran and US Airways Express. Also parking at the Terminal is only $5.00 a day. They have vans that will come and pick you up at your car and take you to the main door of the airport. The Driver helped with the bags and when I tried to tip him he refused. Stating its part of the service. I had to insists that he take it. What a shock. Va. Beach and Williamsburg are really close to the airport too. So we decided to go to Va. Beach for a couiple of days before our flight. Now we can work on our tans before we hit the cruise.
