I am not from St. Louis but I am helping some friends from there plan their trip. I know what a good airfare is from my home airport- so I know when to pounce on a good fare. Basically when it goes to $59 one-way- I purchase it (even though I know it can go as low as $39 each way- $59 is my Buy-It-Now number)
So anyway- what is a good airfare for STL to MCO? It is really high right now, a few nights ago it was $99 each way. Any St. Louis people out there willing to share their thoughts on what a reasonable airfare is to MCO?

I think both those are good prices- you can fly with Alligent air to Sanford intl. airport and it is cheaper, not cheap enough for us to drive 3 hours to St.Louis though. we are flying out of Bloomington, and got 99.00 down and 89.00 back, glad we bought our tickets because now the fares are 124.00 each way and in the am they only have 349.00 one way.... :dance3: hope this helps.

Airfare has been high from STL to MCO since about February (*when I started looking). We ended up paying $350 RT on Southwest. There have been a few *ding* fares but not for our times/dates of travel. A friend is heading down during free dining and the cheapest flights she could find were on AA for $320 RT.

I also booked out of Bloomington, IL. Ours is for $177.10 N/S on a new Delta route.

The recent DINGS for SW have been coming up travel on Tuesday or Wednesday only, so I guess it depends on whether they have their days set in stone or not.

I used to buy at anything under $200 for my home airport, SPI, or STL. I considered that to be my cut off price. However, I had to pay $262.50 over Easter, and now I found $177 (both out of BMI).

Just keep looking. You may want to set up fare watches on Travelocity and Expedia. Expedia includes taxes and fees in their prices, Travelocity doesn't.

Thanks- that is just exactly what I wanted to know- (what price would you jump on) 2 nights ago it was $212 RT fees/taxes included on SW and slightly less ($207) on AA. Now Delta is cheapest but prices have jumped back up accross the board. I will let them know that if they see anything around $200 RT- they should probably go for it.
Thanks

Have them also look for Sanford (SFB) and Tampa (TPA). They would need a rental car. From SFB it is about 50 miles plus a few dollars worth of toll and TPA is about 75 miles. Both almost all of the travel is expressway/interstate

We are pay around 200 r/t on AA from STL to MCO in December. I was thrilled to get that, because I HATE Southwest and was dreading having to fly on it. (No offense to anyone who likes it, I just had a bad experience that last time I flew, and my father had an even worse one on a different flight. I also hate the cattle call.)

our tickets back in March for our trip tomorrow. We ended up going from STL to Tampa for $77, then from Orlando back to STL for $79. I have not seen anything come close to that since then.

We got Southwest Ding Fares for $118 Roundtrip for our trip in May last week, from STL to MCO.

We also got 59 each way STL to MCO for travel last month. By the way, what are your friends travel date? I also, have seen USA 3000 offer flights from 59 to MCO and 89 back to STL. A friend booked that about a month ago for travel end of this month.

I was just looking on airtran.com and low and behold, $64 non stop one way from Orlando back to Pittsburgh, yesterday Pittsburgh to Orlando was $84 one way but for only an hour or so, so I will look for that again but I booked 14 of us coming home for only $1036, for non stop is a steal, great times too, don't have to leave till 1pm, so no early rising to catch a plane. You just gotta keep looking!

bugbugmom what is USA 3000? I am looking for flights from MCO and wanted to check the one you said had the good rates.

We are in the middle of MO and can fly from KC or STL and we have found MCO is almost always cheaper for us. For our Feb Trip we got Roundtrip with Delta for $98.00 per person. Now Im looking for December tickets and can't find anything cheap yet.

USA3000 only flies into Ft Myers, St pete, not Orlando, St Pete is a good 1.5 hours away if not more, without traffic. Tampa airport right now is HORRIFIC with traffic.

Well, it would depend entirely on WHEN they are hoping to travel, but for SWA Ding or Internet Special fares, good right now is about $67+taxes o/w, though it has actually dipped as low as $39 on occasion (really slow-selling flights on Tu & Th in really slow seasons.)

If we are talking a holiday period, anything under $200 r/t before taxes is worth grabbing.

I agree with the others that it really depends on the time of travel. I have had STL to MCO on my farewatchers for over a year now and I would consider $163 a great roundtrip price. You may find a $59 each way on Southwest but after the fees, you are looking at a little less than $150 r/t.

Good luck to your friends! I hear AirTran is going to start flying soon out of Lambert so check out their website to see if the trip falls after the start date. They have been advertising so much on the radio stations so maybe the fares will be good!

Somtimes American has flights from STl to MCO for 123 or 168 rt. I just got those for March. I would rather use Southwest and I hate it when AA is cheaper!
