It's been 10 years since we've made a magical pilgrimage to the land of the mouse, but that is all going to change in December 2010. :goodvibes My question is is it typically cheaper to book airfare this far out, or wait till it gets closer? Do airlines lower the prices as the dates get closer in order to fill the flights up?

Thanks for your help!

I'd start doing a search to get a feel of the prices since it has been so long since you flew there.

I know I always figured that about 3 months out was the best prices. However, this December will make our third year straight to fly to Orlando. The other two times I waited & watched prices & booked.

This year we booked & then I booked flights the same day. I found that prices this far out for flights in Dec. were awesome right now. We flew the other times from Dallas Fort Worth & had to drive several hours to get to the airport. This time we are flying from our small Waco airport for cheaper & it is right in town & no parking fees.

Good luck on getting great ticket prices & have fun at Disney!

IMHO, airfare is on its way up. We booked tickets last fall for August for $197 RT - those same tickets are now over $500. :scared1: Once you have a feel for what a good price is, I'd say book the seats as soon as you see something reasonable!

I haven't booked airfare yet for our Dec trip because I am waiting for Airtran to release their fares. Hopefully soon, I'm getting antsy!

Try Bing.com's Travel page. (http://www.bing.com/travel). They bought Farecast, which was one of the better web sites for predicting whether airfares would go up, down or stay about the same.

For a flight from Newark to MCO next month, they suggested buying tickets now. If I changed the travel dates to the fall, they advised waiting.

I'd had great luck with Farecast in the past, so I would most likely follow their advice.
