I am surprising my daughter in October to Florida. The airfare right now through southwest is about $330 per person and this would be Boston to Orlando. What is opinions on it?? Should I wait to see if I possibly get a Ding or if they drop?! I am so torn and confused! :confused3

That seems kind of high.

I have always been a huge fan of Southwest but their airfares out of the DC area to Orlando pretty much STUNK this year, and no DINGS.

JetBlue had phenomenal rates up until 2 weeks ago for a possible last minute trip I'm taking. Even Airtran was better than Southwest.

Have you checked any other airlines? Also, I see rates go up and down and I would suspect that you can get a cheaper rate for October. Of course, I'm not overly familiar with the pattern of Boston airfare.

I gave up on SW for this year and finally went with US Air when they dropped their flights about a month ago. Every day I say that I'm glad I didn't hold out for SW because the rates only go higher or stay the same. They just aren't budging this year. I'd look at all my options and if something good comes along I'd go for it. Love SW but it's just way too much this year.

Keep in mind though SW lets you check two bags for free. Add those costs and other hidden service costs depending on airline.

You didn't give your specific dates but I just went on the JetBlue site and plugged in some random dates (Tuesday or Wednesday flights) and got some as low as about $220. First bag flies free.

That seems a lot better than $330.

Our dates would be October 27th to November 3 or 4th depending on which day is better. I LOVE SW but their prices seem crazy this year. As far as luggage, we usually have just one each and pack lightly because we stay in the Vistana and can wash our clothes (leaves more room for Soveniers haha).

Have you tried Manchester instead of Boston? Just put in your dates at SW and got $239 pp return direct.

Total Price: $239.60

Your default airline search should start at Kayak.com and not at Southwest.com...

Airtran has the cheapest BOS to MCO for your dates, and they even have a non-stop in both directions. Prices start at $200 plus $20 for first bag. And you can choose your seat ahead of time for $6.

Delta also is way cheaper including luggage, and you can choose your seats.

Jetblue also comes in cheaper including one free bag, and you can choose your seats.

United also comes in (barely) cheaper including bags and you can choose your seats.

I fly SW to MCO frequently. Live in central Mass...Logan is about 40 mins away, TF Green is almost exactly an hour. We go to Green....flights to MCO are always cheaper there vs at Logan.
Found flights totaling $234 from PVD.
