Ok, never thought I would see it, but, DELTA was cheaper than SOUTHWEST on our return flight in October! Southwest on a Sunday was about $420 to come home!! I used priceline, and Delta is $300!! Even checking 2 bags is still cheaper! And, I checked on Delta.com, and we are all confirmed and have tickets. How strange. Anyways, calling MS now for Magical Express!! We are excited about BLT and Halloween!

Isn't that crazy? Our October flights out of Orlando were cheaper on Delta than they were on AirTran. We only do carry-ons, but we still saved about $60 for the two of us.

Have a great trip!

This has been the case for us on our last three trips. Southwest has been outragous on prices!

Delta priced themselves out of my market years ago (Hartford Ct - Orlando) UNTIL I decided to book flights for DH and myself for his birthday Dec 10 - 15 and SW does not have fares out yet so on a fluke I checked Delta and was SHOCKED to find R/T direct non-stop flights for 159.00 per person TAX INCLUDED on Delta!!!!!! I jumper all over it. After I booked the flights it occurred to me that Jet Blue is starting service in Nov and sure enough they had comparable fares for that time frame. I am pumped! Owners Locker waiting(no checked bags for us), AP passes already bought, ADR at Le Collier on Saturday evening for DH birthday, tickets for MMCHP bought and did I mention no kids!

Here's a good one for ya!
Anyone here from SW Ohio may know what I'm talking about.

We live between Dayton and Cincinnati. Almost the same drive time to either airport. I've been keeping an eye on airfare for our Dec. trip and always check both airports. We typically fly Air Tran out of Dayton because historically it's been substantially cheaper. Greater Cincinnati airport for years had the highest airfares in the country-Delta runs the show there. Well, the past couple years Delta out of Cincinnati has been coming way down, competitive with our Dayton flights. Delta also flies out of Dayton, with a connection somewhere, to Orlando. Right now it is about 25 bucks CHEAPER per person to fly Delta out of Dayton, with connections (I think Detroit) than non stop from Dayton on Air Tran AND about 50 bucks cheaper than Delta non stop out of Cincinnati.
I guess what gets me is from Dayton, Delta flies farther and has extra take offs and landings than from Cincinnati. Of course they're feeling the effects of Air Tran, even from cities a couple hours away, like Indy and Louisville and even Southwest out of Columbus.
The great thing is we hopefully will benefit from all this competition in the region for years to come. We just have to weigh all the different flight times against prices. We like to arrive early and leave late, and the flights out of Dayton on Air Tran really fit us. But if the price differences keep growing we'll just about take any flight time.
