Correct. My husband is a Target team lead and the 5% red card discount still applies. You just have a confused team lead.

And government mandated? That sounds like something a Disney CM might make up.

Yes..he said that there was a whole big deal about the cards 2 months ago and the government got involved and is not permitting them to honor the discount. I did buy them at Sams for almost 5% off but received an additional 1% because of the cashback on the credit card I used. But thanks for the info...there are restaurant cards I wanted to buy and I will raise the issue again.

You did not receive the correct information from the Team lead. The 5% Red Card discount does still apply. No just did an order on Target.com and the 5% Red Card did come off, making the $50 GC only $47.50. Of course, I am ordering in Pennsylvania, so I am not sure if your state has different rules, but PA still allows the 5% Red Card discount

I am in PA...I will raise the issue again! I did buy them at Sams and received the 5% discount and then another 1% because of the cash back on my credit card, but it is annoying to receive incorrect info. I would like to purchase their restaurant gift cards in the future so will raise the issue again. Thanks!
