Air Transat in Toronto

Looking at flights for my April trip. There is a direct flight there from Ottawa, I can use airmiles or pay for it, not super expensive. It's getting home that is the issue! I can fly Air Transat back to Toronto, it arrives at 10:20 PM. I can then either stay overnight at an airport hotel (I assume there are some nearby with shuttles of some sort) and take the train home in the morning or find a flight from Toronto to Ottawa that night, for like $300 (for two people). Which is probably what the train plus hotel would cost. But it would be either Air Canada or Westjet. Knowing YYZ is a bigger airport, and not knowing which terminal we'd be landing at, I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions? We would obviously be getting home very late, and have to spend time in Fort Lauderdale or Miami after the cruise while waiting for the late flight. We have done a gator tour there before and could do that again, or something similar. Kiddo is NOT good at flying, he starts getting sick before we even get in the car to go to the airport. No medications work. It's all an anxiety thing.

I have looked at Montreal as well, we'd arrive very late there as well. I would probably drive there and have to pay for parking. I wouldn't want to drive home at midnight so we'd have to stay an extra night there before coming home the next day.

Seriously, why are flights back to Canada from that are so expensive on May 7th? Ugh. I'm not willing to drive since kiddo isn't old enough to drive and it would be like 3 days each way. This cruise is a replacement for cancelled March break 2020 cruise, I booked the furthest out I was able to and now the darn flights
