Has anyone had trouble flying Air Trans?????
Just got back from HHI and flew them. It was the most horrible unaccomidating airline I ever flew and staff was rude in every city we flew into. I would have to say never again for us.

Flown them many times to MCO and have never had any trouble. Not much frills but always good dependable service. Sorry you didn't have the same experience. There Jets always seemed pretty clean and the staff on the planes more than helpful. Flown free a few times with their ff points so maybe that made us oblivious to any troubles. ;)

Kinda off Topic, but with AirTran jets, do there seats have the armrest that go up, so my DW and I can up the arm rest for a little more room (We have sears on the side that only has 2 seats)

Service is NOT thier strong point, but what did you pay? I bet it was cheap. (They use the RUDE model to discourage you from asking WHY the plane is two hours late LOL!)

(And never say never, I see that on the DIS all the time and then when the flights come out and AirTran is $50 cheaper... off we go LOL!)

Americans vote with thier pocketbooks. We aren't willing to pay for service, we want CHEAP!

Carol, you are right...it is funny, I had to travel for work recently and I said I would not fly UA if I can help it. The company making the arrangements started to book me on UA. I went online, found the flight I wanted on Midwest - they booked it. On the outbound Midwest was overweight so I took a bump- guess where? yup UA- but I did get a free roundtrip ticket on Midwest to use in the future year! But I still have the same feeling about UA..never say never! (and when I changed planes in Chicago- we had no crew for the UA flight and then we had maintenance issues..could happen on any flight)

I paid $549 for my son and I. I would rather pay more to another carrier next time I need to get to Savannah.

And you probably will. Next lowest priced airline is over $100 pp more. I can put up with alot if it puts an extra 200 bucks in my pocket. To each his own.

Bet you wouldn't put up with an all day layover waiting to get on a flight you already paid for. $200.00 more in my pocket wasn't worth losing a day of vacation.

I'm afraid you'd lose that bet. A few years ago I flew on a legacy carrier and ended up at the Pittsburg airport for 3 days. I lived through it and everything. You don't mention the reason for the all day layover. I guess if I my long layover was due to something within their control and not weather or mechanical problems I might get a little miffed, especially if they didn't compensate me for the inconvenience. But in the end I figure I'll go when the plane does and as long as we're all in one piece when we land it was a good flight.

I lost an entire day on my vacation with Northwest in Minneapolis. It happens on all the airlines anymore. For the vacation traveler there really is very little difference in the airlines. Yes for the business traveler some airlines do make the difference but for the casual flier they are all about the same. Give me the cheapest that closest matches my times and you get the business. I actually have never had any trouble with Airtran, but thats cause I have many thousand more miles on the others if I use them more I'm sure something will happen.

Been there done that on.....

Delta, (Got to spend an extra day in London once so that wasn't bad!)
Southwest (Ever spent 8 hours in the Birmingham airport????? BORING LOL!)
USAir (They "lost' the plane. I loved that)
American (they managed to take TWO days to get me from San Antonio to Nashville. Granted it was a business trip, but it was also DECEMBER 23rd and I wanted to go HOME!)

And from all of the above I got NADA!!!! (Delta did once send me a $50 voucher for a late flight that was thier fault!)

(and several airlines now defunct! Eastern was always good for this, they were clueless!)

AirTran was only a few hours late....

Still curious as to what the delay was. Or was it a scheduled layover? Actually, AirTran was the ONLY airline I've had compensate me for a delay. And it was due to weather. It's wasn't much but it was something. We received nothing for the 3 day layover from USAir.

CarolA, I think you're the DISer I'd most like to meet IRL (but NOT in an airport waiting room)! Thanks for the Sunday morning LOL!!!

I am serious. I asked the gate agent what was going on and she said "I don't know, I lost the plane" Now, how this person could lose a plane was beyond me. (If you ever get someone this dumb, do what I did... call the 800 number. They knew where the plane was. The agent on the phone just burst out laughing when I told her that she might want to call the folks in Charleston since they thought the plane was "lost"!)

:rotfl: TOO FUNNY!!!!:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :lmao: :lmao:

Ah, the Charleston airport...that explains a lot. :rotfl: I've spent lots of time waiting for USAir flights there.

Also enjoy watching the Delta flights (and passengers) stack up as those summer afternoon thunderstorms roll in over Atlanta. :)

Sounds like the NW passengers in Flint. There's always a truckload of them waiting out a delay or cancellation for who knows what reason. Always more passengers in the NW terminal than seats on the plane.
