Thanks, we're thinking of trying AirTran for the first time. With 2 kids and some of the stories I've read, I think we should spring for the assigned seats. But, I'm also kind of hoping rates might go down before we'd travel, so it would be nice to apply any savings toward seat and/or baggage fees later on.

With kids, I would absolutely spring for the $6 seats ahead of time. I think the $18 - $24 total each way for peace of mind is very worth it! As you said, if the fare goes down it can always be used toward the baggage fees. I would recommend them. I actually preferred them over SW. Have a great trip!

Do you mean traveling on a Tuesday or just looking at it on a Tuesday?

Looking or booking on a Tuesday or Wednesday is your best bet. BTW, it's usually cheaper to travel midweek than on a weekend also.

Thanks. I have been looking everyday and so far the price is always the same. And we kind of have to stick to Saturday to Saturday. Having to work around my ex keeping my boys/school out for two days that week and making it easier on him and maximizing our length of stay.
