Air Tran Zone 99

Has this happened to anyone? I checked in at the 24 hour mark. SW via AT. I have a seat assignment in Zone 7, DH is in Zone 99 with no seat number. This merger is a mess

I believe Zone 99 is or used to be the boarding for stand-by passengers. I would call AirTran.

I made one call immediately and Brandon basically told me "not to worry about it" they will assign a seat the airport. That didn't make sense, so I called again in 20 minutes. She explained she didn't know what happened. She issued a seat (about 15 rows behind me). If this happens to anyone else, don't settle until you speak with someone who will try to get you a seat. It's bad enough we are separated, but at least he has a seat. I think if Brandon had taken the time to look into it, we could have been seated together or at least a little closer. The rest of our party are seated fairly close together.

Were you able to print a boarding pass for him with a seat #?. Someone posted a month or two ago that they had a similiar situation where their child did not have a seat number. They called and got a seat assignment over the phone but when they got to the airport, it was not there and they did not have a seat. They were overbooked. Luckily there was a no show so she got a seat but it caused them to be the last boarding.

I do have one printed. But, I won't book through SW using Air Tran again. This is just a mess.

My sister had this happen last week. When I looked on the AT website, you could see that the exit aisles were open. It was her kids with the "99" boarding passes. They got on the flight with no problem. My guess is they need to reassign other passengers over the age of 15.

After reading through this thread, I would guess Zone 99 is given to people when there are no open seats left for assignment. You get your seat assignment at the airport, when AirTran can see how many people are no-shows.
