OMG!!!

This is so cool! We live about 15 minutes away from the front door of the GR airport, yet we've repeatedly driven the 100 miles to Detroit to fly AirTran. It is rarely, if ever, that there is a non-stop to MCO from GRR. On top of that, most of the fares are consistently in the $350/person range:scared1:. I thought I'd scored a great deal in Jan '08 when we flew from GRR-MCO for "only" $1100 on NWA. In June '09, we flew from DTW-MCO for $650 on AirTran. It became a no-brainer for us to drive to Detroit. I have grown to love AirTran and their great service. DH was initiated into the "business-class-upgrade" club and now, even he won't fly with anyone else.

Now, we have another option. Allegiant Air recently moved in and I'd considered flying with them. But, I did not want to fly into Sanford since I really like to use DME. Now, Allegiant will be flying into MCO AND we will also have AirTran:dance3:. There are now more local options that should be at a more affordable price for us. We just have to hope that they are successful and decide to stick around:cheer2:.

I just had the same excitement. I booked my airfaire yesterday :headache: out of ORD and planned on staying over at my parent's place because I'm not ok with flying solo out of Detroit in the beginning of March with the high likelihood of weather delays!

Thanks for the positive info about AirTran. :thumbsup2 Actually we just moved from Holland over to the east side of the state (I miss it...:sad1:) and I was wondering about AirTran since we can catch a nonstop out of either Detroit or Flint now (roughly the same distance from where we live). We've always driven down to WDW, but I'm considering flying down this year to save some time. Nice that AirTran flies out of GR now so you have the option you prefer! :)
