Air Tran Flight Schedule Changes

Does anyone know if when booking DME if I need to give them definite flight times or does the Flight # work? We are booked on Air Tran from Rochester, NY to Orlando on August 19th and the flight times (both down and back) have changed twice. Do I need to call Disney Reservations and tell them that the times are now different (they only have the original times on there records) or do they only go by the Flight # when seeing when we will arrive to pick us up and take us to our resort (POP Century).

When you first make DME arrangements, give them the flight # plus the last arrival time you've gotten. At that time, you could mention that the arrival time is subject to change (by now, they've had plenty of experience with those changes). As long as you're registered for that day's arrival, you shouldn't have a problem. If you'd like, you can also call a day or two before departure and mention any updated information if more changes have been made.

We flew Airtran last year and our flight changed 4 times in the last 2 months before we went. Our travel agent said that as long as they had the current flight number and we had the DME tags on our luggage we would be ok and we were. It went fine aside from the frustrations of the flight changing so much. It started to become a family joke.

Thank you both for your replies. I thought it was something like that where the flight number was more important than the flight times. I cannot believe they have changed twice already - they keep getting later and later, soon the whole first day will be shot. We started out with a 11:40 departure time from Rochester and now we are at 1:13 arriving at 3:50. I sure hope it doesn't change many more times, talk about frustrating. I would have preferred not wasting the whole day travelling.

Are there earlier flights you would like to take? Airtran has reportedly been very, very good about letting people change flights for no cost when their original flight times change. It might not be an option for you, but if there is an earlier flight that you would rather take now, I'd call Airtran and see if they can switch you.

AirTran would let us change but the main reason I booked this particular flight is that it is a direct flight from Roch - Orlando. I didn't want to have to get involved with 2 hour layovers with 2 kids who have never flown before. I thought it would be nice just to get on the plane and 2 1/2 hours later we are landing in Florida. If they keep changing the flight times, then I may have to change over to one of the flights that is not direct. I am keeping my fingers and everything else crossed that there are no more changes!
