I just called up air tran because the fares for our upcoming trip went down significantly (about $50 each). The gave me a credit that I can use for future flights for the entire difference. I didn't know they did this, but I sent an email yesterday, and they told me to call 1-800-247-8726 and that I could get an adjustment. You just have to have your confirmation number and the names of the people on the flight. Woo Hoo!! :cool1:

Cool! Thanks for posting as I am considering AirTran for future flights and that is information that would sway me toward booking w/them. Glad you were able to get the credit!

Thanks for posting this. We have been waiting for SW to open more dates but will now book AT and watch for reduced fares!!

Did they charge you the $50 fee for changes?

No, they didn't. But I just booked a flight to Sarasota in January with my credit, and they did charge me $5 each ticket for booking on the phone...but when you get a credit like this, it is tied to a confirmation number so you have to book on the phone. but maybe you can ask for it to be tied to your A+ number?? I'm not sure.

Thanks for posting this....it's good info to know! I just booked our May trip on Airtran, after waiting for our dates to be released. I'm too impatient to wait for SW :rotfl: but we've never flown Airtran before. Their fares weren't awful, but it'd be nice to get something lower!!

If you're an A+ Rewards member they're running a promotion on their gift certificates. For each $100 in certificates you purchase you receive one flight credit. I just did that for our flights this month. I was spending the money anyway and picked up enough credit for a future free one-way flight! :cool1:

That must be a change in AirTran's policy - because when I've called before there was no credit - just a change fee and rebooking at the lower fare.

I actually just did this again, the fare dropped by another $30 per person. They gave me $90 of credit (on my A + number this time) no problem. Now I have had my fare reduced by $240 total. This is awesome -- I was thinking of booking with Southwest next time, but since they drop their fares with no rebooking fee, I will keep using Airtran!!! :cool1:

OMG!! I am so excited. Thanks to this great info I just got a $90.00 credit on my account. Thank you, Thank you :cool1: :cloud9:

You guys are SOOOOO awesome!! I just got a $125 credit for our flight, plus $23 for a flight I booked for my sister to come home for Christmas! :yay:

Thanks for the update! My sister-in-law's flights for the week after Thanksgiving went down over $50/pp - so she is calling AirTran now. Do the credits have to be used for the same people who were originally ticketed? Can credits for 4 people be combined to buy 1 ticket?

I just called Airtran and told them my flights in January went down. They gave me a credit of $108. Therefore, three of us are flying from Detroit to Orlando non-stop for $411 - can't beat that. :thumbsup2 :cool1:

My SIL got a $212 credit, because their flights went down $53/pp for 4 people! It has to be used by August 2007 - which is one year from when they bought their original tickets.

I just got a credit on two of our flights, the third did not drop.
I was charged $5 but that is still worth it.

I am wondering too if anyone can use the credit or does the new ticket have to be in the name of the person who had the original ticket?

For example we had two tickets, one for DD and one for me. SO therre are two separte credits now. Can I combine them when DD buys another ticket or can she only use hers and I can only use mine? :confused3

I know with SW anyone can use the credits.

The person I spoke to at Airtran this morning told me I could use the credit to purchase a ticket for anyone.

the credit is given to the person whose credit card the original purchase was made on, or tied to a confirmation number. when i called to use part of my credit, i just gave them my confirmation number.

the next person that gave me credit tied it to my A + rewards number. It is available as a payment option to purchase online.

rereading my post, i guess i didn't really answer the question. the credit can be used to purchase a ticket for anyone. it would just have to be purchased by the same person as the original purchase...does that make sense?? :confused3
