Air Tran experience

Who here has done Airtran before? I would drive from Moncton, NB with three kids and hubbyto Portland, ME. Are they reliable, comfortable? Are there meals on board or snacks? Tell me whatever you can. Thanks.

We have used ATA a few times before with no problems. They are known for changing the flight schedule. Sometimes it's just the times but sometimes they also add a layover to a non stop flight. This year we are flying with them and about 3 weeks after I booked they changed the times. Our flight to MCO is now 12 minutes later and out return flight is 20 minutes later. Our return is in the morning so I'm happy it's a bit later. They could make me really happy and add another hour on to that change. Their fares are usually really good and for me I will go with who ever is cheaper. This year we got 4 tickets non stop for $580, one ticket from YYZ would cost close to that. They do charge to check bags so you have to factor that it as well.

None of the carriers offer meals on those short flights. They do offer snacks for purchase that are reasonable and good selection. They provide complimentary soft drinks/juice/coffee plus those little bags of crackers.

As far as comfort they are no different than any other carrier of similar service.

I've never had a problem with them. We're flying again with them in Sept. Just checked my flights & they changed them. Instead of leaving at 12:15 we now leave at 1:00, no biggie, but our flight home was supposed to be at 9 am & they changed it to 9:50 am so I'm actually happier to have more time in the morning.

Free pop, water & juice & a small snack, but if you want to eat on board, last time I flew if you bought something beyond security you could take it on the plane & eat.

They also charge to pick your seats. I think it was $6 a seat.
