Air Tran cancelled flights.............

We return home 9/18 what was supposed to be Airtran @ 1pm non stop, they cancelled that flight and put us on the 10a non stop. That is too early to wake kids up to be at the airport @ 8am, luckily Southwest had $49 non stop flights @3pm! We are flying into Pittsburgh, PA

The same thing happened to us. We are flying from Philly though. Our original flight was supposed to leave the 17th at 8 somehting. They switched us to leaving at 3 something with a connecting flight. If we did that it would ruined our whole day. The other flight left MCO at 10 something, not getting us into Phill until almost 2 am! We have two small children and that would have not worked. So....we had to fork out $163 to DIsney to stay another night and get a good flight the next day!

Gosh, I hope airtran doesn't do anything drastic with our flights . They tweaked our times by about 10 minutes, but thats it so far. Glad you found something else that worked out for you instead!!

Ours were tweaked 10 min too so far, that's it. We are flying Airtran home since you can check in at the resort, but when I read that they change flights so often I get nervous and wonder if we should have stuck with SW for the way home (flying SW out there). Did they e-mail you about the change or did you have to find out about it yourself?

They actually canceled both of our flights. I did call and they changed everything to a day earlier, and we are staying later on our departure day. Everything worked out for my group. (8 of us). At $59 each way I couldn't beat the price. I even wound up chosing our seats. I'm at peace, not having to worry about A. B or C boarding passes. We flew with them last year and LOVED them. The satellite radio was great.

Isn't there something that can be done legally about all this changing and cancel ling peoples lives after you have paid for the service. Changing reservation on peoples vacation can cause a real hardship I would think in some cases, for example if plane plans get changed that can change hotel plans reserved and guaranteed by cash. I would think the airlines would have to cover the expense they offered service and you paid for service and they don't perform that service I would they would have to do something to cover your expenses?

Sorry, no. Things happen all the time beyond the control of airlines (weather, security threats, mechanical delays, flight crew unavailability, etc.). If passengers were compensated every time this happens, airlines would quickly go bankrupt.

Things happen. Have a back-up plan in case things go wrong.

Just curoius. Did you pay to select your seats with Air Trans? I keep reading post after post where Air Tans is constantly changing their schedules. Maybe I'm one of the lucky ones (knocking on wood), but our December flights have not been touched. I hope I didn't just cast a shadow on our reservation...

YOU will need to check site frequently yourself. We have found to be very unreliable in regards to time notifiction changes. That said, they are great about refunding $ if changes will not work for you.
