Air tran and pack n plays

How can I take a pack n play on a trip with Air Tran. Will it be a baggage charge? And if they place it under does anyone have any thoughts about how to protect it from being damaged?

Are you staying in a resort/hotel? Most have cribs for the rooms at no additional charge...unless you absolutely have to have the pack n' play for other reasons.

Yes, it is considered baggage and you will be charged. This information is on AirTran's website:

You may bring a stroller to the gate for ease of travel through the airport. The stroller may be gate checked just before boarding the plane and will be returned to the aircraft jet way upon arrival at your destination. Car seats and strollers may be checked free of charge; any other items are subject to standard baggage fees (i.e., portable crib, high chair, etc.).


You should protect it with some kind of cover.

I dont mind having to pay for it as I need to bring this one along. Any ideas of how to cover it or what to use?

Duffle bags (a large one) will probably work. Be sure to measure it before you buy one though!

You could have it shrink wrapped, or wrap it yourself in bubble wrap and duct tape...do you still have the box? If so, use that. You could also mail it instead of take it on the plane.

Didn't this come with some sort of bag?

Anything which will cover it will work, even plastic garbage bags duct taped together.

I have been working on trying to find something that will protect the plastic ends. I am afraid the airlines will just throw this pack n play and the plastic ends will crack or snaps off. I also have to keep im mind that any bag I put it in has to be accessible to open up for security.
