Hi

Has anyone had any experiences checking them or gate checking? I know they allow you to check them for free. I know some airlines provide bags, do they? Also if you gate check is it a pain to deal with?

We are renting a car when we arrive, and we have a booster with a back. I would just take the bottom if we got a minivan or suv, but we've ended up with a mid size because of cost, so I'm nervous about just taking the bottom.

Thanks!

We have flown Airtran with a stroller and 2 car seats quite a few times and have not had any issues. We always gate check the items. They do not provide any type of bag for the items.

If you want to check a stroller (or car seat), it will NOT count towards your checked baggage allowance, so they say it is "Free"...

...BUT, if your stroller is oversize or overweight(:scared1:), you WILL be charged the oversize/overweight fee.

I just found this thread which, depending on when you travel, might mean that you can check your stroller for FREE!

My stroller bag measured 64" so it was oversized. According to this thread, AT has removed the oversize fee for anything under 70". I wish they had done this back in June!

Thank you both!
TCMATA when you gate checked did you put it in a bag?

Thanks Again!

We just bring a umbrella stroller. It's much easier to push around and more compact. Since my daughter is old enough now we rent CARES instead of lugging the car seat. I would call airtran to hear what they think. I have always gate checked ours. :thumbsup2
