I've been checking the weather for this week and I've seen a few "Air Quality" alerts for Anaheim. I'm just wondering how it's been in the parks. Hazy, smoggy, uncomfortable at all? My dd has asthma so I want to know what to expect and if we should plan our days around the air quality.

I’m at the park now and was also here on Sunday. I’ve felt no ill effects from smoke/smog. Like your dad, I’m also asthmatic, so my lungs are more sensitive than a non-asthmatic and I’ve had no trouble. Hope you’re all able to make it.

Thanks for all the fast replies! I'm not as worried now :)

I'll bring masks along in case it does get a little smoggy, and my daughter will have her inhalers.

The primary cause for these alerts is high ozone levels, not smoke or smog.

If you are sensitive to ozone, you may have some issues. For most people, it's nothing noticeable.

Maybe 20 years ago the air quality could be pretty bad, 50 years ago it was terrible. Pretty rare for it to be a problem these days.

From the South Coast AQMD website:
  • Air Quality Alert - Particulate Advisory - Fireworks

Due to fireworks related to Independence Day celebrations, the Air Quality Index (AQI) may reach the Very Unhealthy AQI category or higher from the evening of Tuesday, July 4th through the early afternoon on Wednesday, July 5th.
