Does anyone know if you can add the dining package if you use air miles to cover the hotel? We have enough miles to stay 5 nights at Pop but I was interested in purchasing the dining as well.

I would be interested in the replies too! I have aeroplan points to use, and was wondering if you can add free-dining!

I really hope we can - it would be a totally free vacation!

ok, i knew i was saving my airmiles for something!! :lmao: I never knew that you could book hotel rates with AIRMILES :thumbsup2 I have collected but never "cashed out" I ;) always thought i would only use for airfare, but now i have something to check out :goodvibes Can you view Disney on the airmiles site, or only through the call Airmiles!!

I think the original poster might have meant Aeroplan miles.
You can pay for disney resort rooms with Aeroplan miles and purchase park tickets with either Aeroplan or Airmiles.

To the OP - You will not be able to combine any other discounts or offers with the free dining plan. The free dining plan offer is only available as a Magic You Way package and you must also purchase at minimum 1 day base tickets for everyone in your party. Seperating the room out will disqualify your booking.
You could however, pay for the room with Aeroplan miles, buy your park tickets with Airmiles and then your only expense would be the dining plan. Still a great deal if you've saved enough points!!

A very recent mail out from airmiles announced that you can now use arimiles for Disney hotels but it doesn't appear yet on the website. You're probably best off just calling Airmiles regarding booking the rooms and Disney about the
dining plan.

I did see this same Airmiles mailing for the disney resort hotels late last month which was included in the quarterly update.

I asked AIRMILES (not Aeroplan) about this when I first noticed that info in the quarterly magazine, as i also did not see anything about this on the website.
You need to speak directly to an agent who books PACKAGE vacations with airmiles (the regular agents can't help you with it) - in the phone system you have to choose the option saying that you want to book a package vacation.
The package vacation TA goes through Holiday House (www.holidayhouse.ca) to book your stay at a disney resort - you use airmiles to cover the room costs or a portion of the room costs, but you have to pay the taxes in cash along with a $30./pp booking fee (waived if this agent also books the airfare for you at the same time). payment in airmiles/cash for the booking fee is due at the time of booking and no refunds or changes are allowed. (i think the hotel tax is payed when you arrive, and i think they can also sell you some cancellation insurance if you want). This agent can also, thru holiday house, book the tickets and/or dining plan for you but i am not sure when the payments are due...
Hope this info helps :goodvibes ,

personally, i had enough airmiles to either get our rooms OR our theme park tickets and i decided not to book my room with them for december ( i booked POR rooms with CAA discount thru disney) but instead to use the airmiles to buy our 7 day base tickets for 5 people.... gives us more flexibility, and the ability to cancel or change the plans if we wanted to....

Wow! I can't believe I missed that one...learn something new everyday!
Would love to hear more details.
I would imagine if you could book the MYW package (room, dining and tickets) for that time period then there would be a savings because of free dining but I don't know how they would work that one out.

PS - Did you see that Dominion now has big bonus airmiles right now (for the next few weeks) I spent $200 today on groceries and received 200 airmiles - they add up fast when it's bonus time.

How many airmiles do youcash in to get the 7 day ticket?

How many airmiles are required per night for the Pop Century?

Thanks

Charleyann

Airmiles is the plan I was referring to, not Aeroplan. I was quoted 4650 miles for 5 nights in July ( the amt would go up or down depending on the season) and we would also pay $40.32 per adult for taxes. We only have 5196 Air Miles so if we wanted a mod resort instead we would use all of our miles plus pay $543 /Can for the 5 nights because mods are $170/night during the time we are going.

WOW, that's alot of airmiles for the room. We use ours for flying thru Westjet. If you have a westjet M/C gold, you can fly to orlando return for 1400 airmiles pp.
We found that to be the most cost effective. Anyone else have some great value suggestions for airmiles.

For 7 day base tickets ( we will get the park hopper option added when we get there) it is 1745 air miles for a child and 2170 air miles for an adult.

for our 7 night stay at Port Orleans it would have been around 9800-and-something or 9900-and something, i don't remember the exact quote!!, plus taxes and booking fees plus cancellation insurance.

we had also booked some of our flights with the westjet mosaik master card deal but i was quite peeved that even though we booked on the day the westjet schedules came out with airmiles, westjet only had 4 seats available (we need 5) on every single flight to orlando from ottawa that we tried to get- so we took them and now have to pay something like $580 to get dh on the same flight as me and the 3 kids :sad2: ....... so to make a short story long (LOL).... we are spending $1400. (taxes, fees, cancellation ins., dh's flight)plus something like 5800 air miles for flights!!! Then a few weeks after this arrangement i discovered the DIS boards and i tell you, i was just kicking myself after learning that we could have all flown out of Syracuse for less than that price AND still have those 5800 air miles in our account for something else!!!! I wish i had found these boards just a few weeks sooner!!!!! ( on the plus side, by booking with airmiles so early in the game we do have direct flights from ottawa to orlando and back at really decent hours of the day so our travel days will be super-easy:goodvibes )

Hmmmmm, i'll have to check that out!!!
thanx!

Westjet only has 4 seats available on all their flights for airmiles customers. I found that out too when I booked. We were really lucky to rack up a bunch of points when they opened a new Safeway here a few years ago. They had 600 miles with a $200 purchase. we did a lot of Safeway shopping for a few months!

Unless they changed since 2006, I think the amount of seats they reserve for A/M depends on the city. I know in 2006, some cities only had 4, some 5. Here in Halifax I booked 5 seats and was told by A/M that they held 6 here per flight.
Best to ask A/M unless you did and it has changed.

Syracuse? With what airline? I've heard (and flown from) Buffalo but Syracuse isn't that much further....

Oh, and you can also use American points for room stays although the flights are a better value for your points.

thanks

The amount of seats changes based on the seasons. I think it's 6 seats during low season and 4 during high season. They don't offer more during high season because the flights are almost full already with full fare passengers.
