We will be staying 11 nights in a studio with my two teen DDs (yeah I know - time for more points to get that two bedroom). They WILL sleep together and have more than once. However I am feeling nice right now. LOL and considering getting a twin sized air mattress so they don't have to share that pull out bed.

Any suggestions on a good air mattress that is comfortable, compact to store and easy to inflate? Traveling with it really isn't much of an issue because we have a mini van with extra room and we drive to WDW so we can just stuff it in there.

My son, 14, always brings his LL Bean self-inflating mattress pad. It's very easy--you just open the valves and it fills up. It's about an inch and a half thick, so it's not as big as regular inflatable mattresses. He is a boy scout and used to camping. He says it's as comfy as a bed.

Obviously, you type faster than I do.

Do they have a twin size, or just the queen?

I am not sure we will have room in the studio for the sofa sleeper to be pulled out AND have a queen sized air mattress inflated.

We have a twim size "aero bed" that has a sleeping back that slips over it. It inflates easily and all of it fits nicely into a small suitcase. All of our kids enjoy the aero bed very much.

LL Bean actually has multiple air mattresses. I strongly advise AGAINST the self-inflating ones that are 2" or so thick (I believe these are called the self-inflating futon). These are a disaster! Having family who work there, we are forunate to be product testers for much of the equipment. These mattresses still have to be "topped off" by mouth and compressing them is an absolute nightmare of epic proportions. We are very serious and seasoned campers and have tested most types of equipment. These are dead last on my list.

Now, as for the other self-inflating ones that Bean's sells...we swear by these! They are basically like an aerobed but with a charger so that you can use the motorized slef-inflator without electricity. They do not come in twin and are very pricey.

I suggest the twin aerobed...they are in sale everywhere now.

Linens and Things is having a sale right now on the twin aerobeds, buy one get one free.

They have a full for $129. Same link as my above post.

ELEVEN nights in a STUDIO with TWO teenagers??!!

You are brave parents and my hat's off to you. Having traveled with two teens (and mine were boys), it's not the sleeping arrangements, it's the luggage, and the clothes, the flip flops, the hair products, the grooming aids, the wet bathing suits, the phones, Ipods, the bathrrom time, the showers, etc. We switched from 1 bedroom to a 2 bedroom when they were 17 and never looked back. The thought of doing the trip in a Studio is frightening.:lmao:

LOL

actually that is the easy part - it is the drive from the Dallas are to WDW and back with them both in the car together that is killer.

Other than last year when we did a disney cruise and got them their own cabin we have always stayed in the same room (studio or regular hotel room) so we are used to it.

Checked out the Linens and Things site didn't see the buy one get one free on the twin Aerobed. Aunt Sue, do you know if it's an only in store special?
Thanks

I highly recommend the Aerobed.

We got a queen size that also has a built in "box spring" over at Costco for $130

VERY comfortable...easy to inflate...plug in and push the inflate button...easy to deflate....open up the large deflation valve and it goes right down.

Rolls up to be about the size of a large sleeping bag and has it's own storage/carry bag.

We have an Eddie Bauer twin inflatable mattress that we bought several years ago at Target. My DD sleeps on this often on trips and has never complained. She's 13. When DH or I have had to sleep on it- it wasn't comfortable, but we both weigh quite a bit more than she does! It requires batteries to inflate it, but seems to inflate adaquately on it's own. Haven't looked at Target in a while for these, but could certainly recommend these if they still carry them.

Get yourself some books on CD for that car trip! Makes time go sooo much faster.

We bought ours at walmart (around $20) for queen size and a portable pump (around $10). Not very comfortable but have used it quite awhile and no problem in sleeping on it :cool1:

Just want to say have a great vacation.

I agree with the books on tape/cd as a good way to keep the car peaceful. My DS8 always tells me he doesn't like it when I pop them in but mentions it calms him down every time(me too). DD7 listens on & off, not as much as DS but keeping him calm keeps the car calm, even on short trips. My (our) favorite is the Harry Potter series. We must have listened to the whole series a dozen times. They can be expensive but most libraries have them.

Please post how the air beds work out for you. They sound like a good option for us too.

+1 on those aero-beds ... you can pick them up at Target, or even online at Costco if you're a member. We picked up a Twin at Target for like $85 and it included a $25 Gift Card, so the net price was very nice. ;)

AeroBed makes several types, some use a rechargeable pump, some use one you have to plug into a wall or cirgarette lighter. This one was plugged into a wall (I didn't want to have to deal with batteries and stuff). The pump is actually built into an accessible compartment at the head of the bed ... you press a button ... seconds later, done ... and you can make it as firm or soft as you like. To pack it up, release a valve at the foot of the bed and roll it right up into it's own little carry bag. The twin, rolled up, is even smaller than a sleeping bag.

Hope this helps!
